Internet Explorer 9 is now set to be released 14th March (15th March New Zealand time), during the SXSW festival... 

I have the IE 9 RC installed and it performs well. I like it a lot better than Firefox, but I am currently using Chrome 10 as my default browser. Might try IE9 RTM to see how it goes.

I just wished their feature cycles weren't so long. I quite like Chrome's constant flow of new features and updates.

I don't like IE because I find it alot slower than other browsers I've used, also Bing drives me insane, it supplies results for other searches of what you search, funny note; I tried changing the default search tool, but it always changes back to bing, so I disabled IE in windows features xD.
Am currently using Firefox 4, It's performing well for a beta.

Any word on upgrade policy? I will it be an automatic upgrade as part of Windows updates. Also I hear its not supported on Windows XP?

Yeah, My mum had it on her laptop she bought herself for xmas, I found it a tad sluggish.

That will be IE8 unless your mum has downloaded a beta of IE9 off Microsoft and installed it herself.

It can't be... IE9 is in beta, and it's being officially released this week, so it shouldn't be in any laptop out of a store yet.

In my view the only actual competition today is between Internet Explorer and Chrome. Opera makes a good browser, but adoption's slow. Firefox is slow, and uses too much memory.

It seems Internet Explorer 9 RC 32 bit is faster than 64 bit, due to the Javascript JIT compiler used. Explanation here.

Download and installed in less than five minutes, back as my default browser for now, replacing Chrome.

does anyone have a list of compatible graphics card (or rather incompatible graphics card) -

EG is it worth installing on laptop with core 2 duo and intel GMA 4500hd? (afraid I can't 'uninstall' it if it gives trouble, as MS confirms it is darn slow on "older" computers which do not support "GPU acceleration" - huh?)

Love the speed of IE9. Is anyone finding that the font is not as smooth as in Chrome?

Requiring a reboot for a browser install isn't on. So I won't be "using it" until the next windows update requires a reboot. (Which will be next month, I imagine)

Downloaded and installed, still find Chrome the better between the two. Chrome just seems faster for me.
