networkn: Android isn't that much newer, almost all of the people I know who migrated either did so because Android offers them greater flexibility (More technical people), or for the superior hardware. People like choice, and Apple doesn't offer people choice.
networkn: Newer is a relative term, Android has been around long enough for people to decide if they like it. I don't agree with superior hardware, I think my Samsung Galaxy S is superior is every way to an iPhone (and has equal build quality) (though this isn't the place for that discussion). I didn't say all technical people don't like iPhones. Most Android devices don't have propriety connectors etc either.
What I am saying basically, is that Apple needs to defocus on keeping it's systems locked down and so tightly controlled, it didn't work for them last time and probably won't in the longer term this time either. I could be wrong, but I think once SJ passes on, their will be a strong push away from this.
networkn: TDG: Yes and it did 20 years ago with the Apple 2E etc as well.
I am not really anti Apple as such, I recognize the place in the market they cater to, but also equally understand that won't ever meet my needs nor my preferences.
I am not sure how you can argue they aren't closed off however, everything about Apple is propriety.
