Yes, but there appears to be only one variant of the M1 Macbook Air, whereas previously there were both 256Gb and 512Gb variants.
FineWine:
Please max out the RAM to 16Gb. It is only another $350, but you will not regret the startup and operational speed difference.
Ahhhh - they have upped the memory in the new M2 to a max of 24Gb at a price of +$700
Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

Ok spoke with my wife about it and we have agreed to wait until the new ones come out and get the latest version....

With 24Gb max memory ??

Probably not... I don't think our budget can stretch that far
another quick question
I thought the MacBook Pro was superior to the MacBook Air?
I'm just looking at pricing
Harvey Norman have the MacBook Air 13" with M2 Chip 8-core CPU/10-core GPU 8GB Ram 512-SSD 2022 for $2699
and the MacBook Pro 13" with M2 Chip 8-core CPU/10-core GPU 8GB Ram 512-SSD 2022 for $2649
I just wondered why the Air was more expensive that the Pro?
This article is a good comparison. The 13" Macbook Pro is based on a very old design, and the new Air seems to have quite a few advantages.

thanks for that - very helpful
You are wise to wait. The new M2 Air *for most users* will be a better bet than the old 13'MBP even with an M2 inside, and certainly a nicer design than the old Air which is getting dated (particularly around the display). The 13'MBP seems to be mostly there for education/corporate use (as a familiar and reliable workhorse). The M2 Air and the M1Pro Max/Pro Ultra are the "best" available tech IMO. Unless you have very specific needs (I haven't read the whole thread) then 16Gb is fine.
Also the black ones really look very cool ;-)
Well done on keeping your powder dry

There is a design flaw in the new MBA M2 whereby the 256 GB variant is a single NAND SSD that runs slower than the M1 MBA 256 GB version (which had 2 x 128 GB SSD running in parallel.) So if your budget allows would definitely suggest getting the 512 GB version of the M2 MBA.
There's also a throttling issue with the M2 MBP, but I'm not sure whether it also applies to the MBA. In short, when you're doing CPU-intensive stuff (the kind of things you'd want the increased performance of the M2 for) then it gets too hot and slows to a crawl. It then cools off enough, ramps back up to full speed, only to overheat and slow down again. Someone did the same video processing on an M1 and M2 side by side and the M1 actually finished first.
