TDGEEK: It's clearly outlined in an earlier post, including the reasons why.

Apple will not continue to succeed in the long term without a direction change. They were successful the first time and now the second, because they were first. It won't be long before someone does it just as well (Arguably already happening), and because it's available to a greater number of people, they will just disappear. Won't happen this year or next, but it will happen without a change.

If your referring to Steveon's "Hoping for an new CEO who believes in more open systems." it would have been easier for you to say/quote that. Saying Apple needs to change is a general statement, that's why I asked for clarification.

I cannot see Apple going that way at all. Irregardless of market share, they are making the most money. They have the most control over their destiny as they provide the hardware, OS, and app store. There are advantages to that, and whether they can maintain earning 2/3 of global smartphone profits remains to be seen. Thats what they are doing at the moment. Their keeping their OS to themselves is a point of difference. Their integration is a point of difference. They have full control.

What I was referring to with change is more subtle. Customisation on Android is a key benefit for Android users, making iOS more customisable is what I would see them doing. The other is providing iPhones to cover a wider market base, instead of just the top end.

That isn't what I was referring to, but honestly I don't have time to cover it again. Have another read of my comments if you are seriously interested.

You are entitled to your opinions, just make sure that if you own apple Stock you get out early enough :0

afaik, he suffered from islet cell carcinoma, not the common adenocarcinoma of the pancreas. it has been 9 years since he was first diagnosed with it.

without steve jobs, Apple will become obsolete over few years...

If you are talking about licensing other manufacturers? They tried that and nearly went into chapter 11. It will never  happen again and would be a monumentally bad move.

If you are referring to the <1% OS it will never happen. Linux on the desktop will remain a hobby OS.
