Once more Steve Jobs will take the stage and deliver the opening keynote to Macworld and excite us with a raft of new products and applications.

My predictions are below - what do you think....

  • iTunes - announcement of downloadable movie rental system
  • updated AppleTV - with blueray DVD, integration with iTunes movie rental system
  • updated ipods to integration with iTunes movie rental system
  • updated iphone - new features include: integration with iTunes movie rental system, updated springboard, updated google maps, MMS, Video - maybe 3G?
  • Mac Pro, iMacs and MacBook Pros get Blueray DVD
  • One more thing??? the Ultra-portal tablet everyone has been talking about?

Steve job will deliver his Keynote at 9am Tuesday 15th Jan 2008

I agree with most of your points Madmac...However... I'd like to see new Displays and an updated mac mini: This could be in 2 forms; consolidation of apple tv and mac mini or just a smaller unit - something which is headless, discrete graphics card and two SATA 3.5 disks would be nice!!! <doubt this will happen tho>

I think they might do a mac mini update, not sure about the screens, unless they have totally redesigned them.

I'd love to see:

iphone firmware update announced (so then they can hack 1.1.2)
Resolution independence (in conjunction with higher rez displays) now working in Leopard for consumers - demo of this would be nice
New displays - better specs - maybe redesigned Facia (although I really don't want integrated iSights as some people are wanting)
Beefier mac mini-esque machine which could run as a headless server / media server
802.11n across the line (iPhone and mini espesh)
Some multi-touch device (not iPhone) demoed

Don't really have a need for a thinner mac laptop but knowing Apple, if they do release one, it'll be tres-special!
Also, don't give a toss about iTunes movie rentals...

Should be interesting though, can't wait for tomorrow (though it won't be as exciting as last year's when they released the iPhone)

SteveJobs: Steve Jobs will be wearing jeans.

Yes, I think this is quite likely to materialise. I have also heard that he will be wearing a sweater and will have some facial hair. The exact specifications of the sweater are currently unknown, but I think it will most likely be a black turtleneck.

Oh, yeah, and they'll probably announce some new hardware and software...

Don't forget that will be probably wearing New Balance or Nike sneakers and he will use the famous "boom!" during the keynote speech.

The MacBook Air does nothing for me.

Not having built in Ethernet is just silly. Same with no optical drive. Id rather have a laptop thats 6mm taller but has the built in drive.

Ill take a Tosh R500 or VGNTZ17GNB Vaio any day.

And here is an interesting tidbit that i have heard recently - It looks like the toshiba engineers have managed to shrink the R500s motherboard even more, and in the future a dual hard drive option may be available. Raided for redundancy or performance.

freitasm: You left behind the iTunes Digital Copy.

At least they're not into double dipping like the music industry!

Quote from some dude over at modmyiphone:

"Jobs was wearing a brown, not black, turtleneck for the keynote and did not come back with a 'one more thing...'. He has obviously been replaced by a robot." Smile
