Purchased a JBL Charge speaker on 26/12/2013 from JBHifi and yesterday it started playing up (connect via BT but wouldnt transmit all the time, volume stuck at full), thought "crap, will be interesting to see what JB make of this..." with it being out of warranty by 20 days.

Took it in, they tried connecting to it (which it wouldnt do), said they'd send it off to be looked at. Then the guy looked at me and then the speaker and said "hold on a minute", was back in 30s and said "go grab one off the shelf, we'll just swap it out".

Must admit I did mutter "CGA" once but dont think that had much bearing on it...

So I'm stoked with the outcome, thanks JB :)

I do a duty once every couple of weeks at Marlborough Citizens Advice, and we find pretty much all the stores are fair regards returns, although one is known to put returned items back on the shelf.  Things where both CGA and FTA are universally ignored are cell phones, but to be frank, I don't really blame the vendors concerned.  People come in to us obviously looking for a cheap path to an upgrade, or having done something silly like drop their phone in the washing up bowl, or even down the toilet!  That actually happened.

The golden rule if you think you are going to have problems is to keep all the paperwork, and note down all the facts and witnesses, and tell the vendor you are going to the Disputes Tribunal.  The fee is just $45 for a disputed amount up to $2000, rising to $180 for $5000 and up.  Vendors frequently back down when they see someone is serious about the DT and has all the paperwork.

It's good, although to be honest, no more than I would expect any worthwhile retailer to do in such circumstances.

I have to say i find JB hifi are great at returns if there is a problem, They even accepted a return of a laptop (a day after purchase) because it was not really what I was looking for.

I also find mitre 10 good.

Complete opposite experience to what I had with them when my laptop developed issues soon after buying it.

I'm glad they sorted you out though

Yeah, if it was out of warranty by only 20 days it should be fine as the CGA states "within a reasonable time".

Glad it went fine!
