Hi everyone,

Does anyone know how to get in touch with someone at http://urbansherpa.co.nz who can unsubscribe me from their pesky emailing list?

I seem to have gotten on it somehow, I've replied many times to tell them to stop but get no response.
There's no unsubscribe link on the emails, which I think is against the law or something now here?

I don't even have an account with their site either, so I don't know what else to do. There is a mobile number in the footer along with an address but I really don't want to be doing that as it's kind of embarrassing.

Any help much appreciated!

Hi tardtasticx. I work for DIA - not in the Regulatory Services group that looks after this stuff, but still...  For email SPAM, forward it to spam@dia.govt.nz. For txt SPAM, forward it to 7726 (SPAM).

Reported the emails last night to the DIA, and got an email earlier this morning from the sender saying I was now in subscribed. He didn't mention anything about not having an unsubscribe link, kind of get the impression they don't think it matters.

Does the anti-spam team look into all cases or just send like a warning email to them?

All reported SPAM is reviewed but detailed investigation is based on the merits of each case.  The Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007 states that a commercial electronic message must include a functional unsubscribe facility that the recipient can use to instruct that no further messages should be sent to the recipient's email address.

If the email you received did not contain an unsubscribe link, this case would be investigated and Urban Sherpa would likely get a warning, followed by prosecution if they don't comply.

A similar thing happened to me.

Constant emails from a place I shopped at and the unsubscribe link didn't work. After multiple attempts to contact them regarding it, I reported it. Within 24 hours received 3 emails stating that I'd been unsubscribed.

Does the DIA contact these places immediately upon receiving a complaint?
