Looks like Apple has increased their prices, some significantly, across the board.

Thoughts?

Personally i was holding out on a deal for the ipad A16 which was $699 RRP but see it has jumped $200 to $899. Guess i’ll be holding onto my old one for a while longer…

Also quite surprised the Apple TV 4k has increased by $150 from $279 to $429…

I guess due to the global price increases for various components? The Apple TV one is odd tho -- seems a bit steep for what is a relatively simple device.

Makes battery replacement more attractive in some cases…. Sweat them for 7 years I say!

I was planning to get Sept release ATV to replace the HD one I have, but want the Ethernet/Matter version which is now $500 odd…. Might still, as had that at least 7 years.

Wow. I was considering an entry level M5 Macbook Pro next year, but it's gone from $3300 to $3900! I might have to hold on to my five year old unit.

In addition to the Apple TV mentioned above, I see that the Homepods have also increased. They're listed at $680 and I'm pretty sure they were $550 previously.

iPhones, Apple Watches and Airpods appear to be unchanged as far as I can tell?

I saw something saying that Apple's "market cap" has dropped by 260 billion USD overnight in response to this. Is this going to be the straw that breaks the camel's back and forces the industry to restore sanity?

(Of course it won't...)

If anyone has anything to do with IT Procurement you'll know this is an across the board thing, Apple was about the last hold out. A lot of quotes I've seen lately the price is held for a week if you're lucky, thinks are so volatile.

I gather that this is because AI infrastructure is putting pressure on availability of components. I wonder if prices will eventually normalise as component supply adjusts to meet demand?

This isn’t a surprise, Valve got a ton of backlash for the Steam Machine price. Meanwhile everyone in the know has been saying that come July everything is going to start reflecting price increases.

2028 is the new "Guess"...

And this is from a company that is currently raking in more money than god at the moment, (and who killed off one of the main consumer-retail RAM companies "Crucial" so they could make more money selling RAM to AI data centres..
