When Hendrix died we had a little gathering of people who knew him well. I had some pamphlets printed with some photos that I had gathered up from throughout his life, and a few people shared their memories of him. I was really good to acknowledge the 15 years of happiness that he gave.

That's a nice gesture for Hendrix. laughing

I guess it's a bit like having a funeral for him, a way to acknowledge his passing.

One of my friends just came by with his almost 7 year old son to express his condolences. The boy is a bit too young to understand death properly. He's met Blackie before.

My friend Bert first met Blackie back in 2000, about 3 days after I had gotten him from the SPCA. Bert accidentally let him out of the back door of my old flat and Blackie ran away! This was on a Sunday afternoon.

I hunted high and low around the neighbourhood looking for him with no luck. On the Monday I posted a lost ad in the local newspaper (still no sign of him).

On Tuesday at about 1 am in the morning, I heard a scrambling sound and Blackie pulled himself in through a window as large as life, meowing to let me know it was DINNER TIME. surprised

Bert felt really bad that he had accidentally let him out, so luckily I emailed him in the morning to let him know that Blackie had found his way home.

I could hardly believe that he came back after only being with me for 3 days. He had bonded with me quickly over that short time.

I remember when I first got him home to my flat; he was so scared and he was hiding behind a dresser. I just put my hand back there to pat him and reassure him that this was his new home and I was his new companion. Ah, sweet memories of a beautiful companionship. I'll never regret getting my boy all those years ago now. He made my life a better experience.

I was going though some old pics and found some nice ones of my baby. Here's one of Blackie and me having a snuggle. This was the kind of bond that we had together:

Always meant to put a picture of my little girl in here... then today I did the hardest thing I've ever had to do in putting her to sleep, due to fluid around the lungs and breathing difficulties.

So here are my two favorite pictures of her:

^^^

I know what you're going through. Blackie has been gone for ten days now. It still doesn't seem quite real. I sometimes catch myself waiting for the sound of his cat flap.

Your puss was beautiful. How old was she?

Seeing as we're on the subject of departed pets.
Pushing up daisies in our back yard.
I ran over her in my truck - thought she was off chasing rabbits, but she must have been taking a leak or something right in front of the front wheel.

She was only 8. I've just been going through all the photos snapped of her in the last 6 months to send to my ex who is now overseas - its quite theraputic to see her in all the cute and happy times.

Eight? That's sad. I got 14 years with my little man, still it hurts to have him gone. But I had to think of his best interests. He wasn't going to get better and I had to say goodbye. It will get easier.

I'm glad you have lots of pics to remember her when she was alive.

It likes to be upside down, To be honest its a horrid cat. Endless biting and attacking. Never shows love..
still a cool cat cause it will attack people that come to my house. Either or run away.
Names Mischa. I have not seen her that last few days so dunno whats up..

Mischa looks like she needs to be on a diet.

You might find her temperament changes with different/better/less food also :)

She only eats the best food. Most expensive food.
I tried to put her on a diet. No luck. Stopped feeding her completely. She would just catch food and get fatter.

Very sorry for people's losses. I have two dogs buried in the backyard, numerous ex cats, all well loved members of the family. Love my current dog to bits.

Thanks for the shared photos, enjoy them all.

Safia - our 2 year Silver Chinchilla persian

Dude - our 8 year old half-persian tabby - acts like his name

Scout - a half-english sheep dog/half golden retriever puppy we had before we needed to move house - a new family is enjoying him now... he'd be 7 years old now.

In 2009 he looked like this...
