Just yesterday, I was a pedestrian wanting to cross a street. I was not at a pedestrian crossing, and I was standing a fair distance back from the kerb so as to not look like I was in any sort of hurry. A driver decides to stop in the middle of the road to let me cross, and to and hold up the 6-7 cars behind him...

I will give you another example. When I am walking down a busy street (e.g. Lambton Quay) I glance over my shoulders before "overtaking" slow walkers. I glance before stopping and I try to move as left as possible to be close to a wall so to not prevent foot traffic flow. So what really annoys me is people who just stop anywhere or just decide to pull out of the path without considering other people.
Yes, "lack of awareness in one's surroundings" is another small annoying thing.

Speaking of crossings.... Courtesy crossings. Pedestrians just think they have right of way and that the car will stop, so they walk out then get p***ed off when a car almost hits them. The car does not have to stop and let you go. You must wait, unless they wave you on/stop for you.
slow down and be ready to stop for any pedestrians stepping onto, or on, the crossing – this also includes people obviously waiting to use the crossing
