Here's hoping I win. My current NAS is OK for my daily use, but the single network port is letting it down

This is actually very timely ... I'm starting a new job shortly at a small/medium sized company and I am aware they have data storage issues currently.

A synology nas solution might be just what they need to provide reliable and quick-enough storage to meet their needs.

Here for a badge, and it could be a nice upgrade of my ds413j.

I'd love an entry into the Synology draw please.

I don't mind swapping my badge for someone else's draw entry

Awesome devices. I don't think they support ZFS which is a shame, but other look cool

Interesting set of new features that Synology are releasing, it does show why/how they are staying ahead of everyone else with their products. It's interesting to see how much they are pushing into the business space at an affordable price compared to the traditional enterprise solutions.

Personally, I'm keen to replace my aging NAS and the DS920+ would be an awesome option!

The power supply in my current QNAP just died so this would be a nice upgrade.

Yeah, I have a story where a NAS would have saved my bacon.

I'm in the process of consolidating our family's digital photos. There are quite a lot of them and many duplicates.

Many devices and several cloud storage accounts.

I had scraped together just enough disk space on my ancient desktop to process batches of them and sync them to OneDrive.

Sometime later I found that the OneDrive sync client had stopped syncing because I had run out of space on /home.

Then, like a complete idiot, I managed to delete my entire /home filesystem.

Backups? The cloud was the backup.

A majority of files are still available on the original devices, or in the original archives dotted around the place, but there's no way to really know what's missing and they're gone forever.

Having a nice simple NAS would have meant that those files would have already been synced there and still be available.

Derp.

I was also impressed by this keynote. It was a well put-together event which touched on all areas of the Synology product offering.  I hadn't realised how big the synology business had become as many of the products haven't been widely available in NZ retail stores until now!

Plenty of good stuff in there to keep us geeks busy  :)

My QNAP TS -253 PRO cr@pped out over the weekend so this competition is timely.

Although starting to wonder if the use cases for a NAS (other than potentially a cloud back-up solution) are getting smaller.

Can't seem to edit my reponse. Just got through all the videos. Was definitely more there than I thought at first!

Some powerful and what look like easy to use solutions being rolled out here.
