They spend more time wanting YOUR details (Name, address, phone, shoe size etc) than the actual problem - which they rarely deal with anyway!

It's 2022 and I still can't find Soylent Red or Yellow in the supermarket, let alone Green.
But you can get alternatives:

PB Tech have a Figure 8 power cable that is only available to buy online - and not readily available elsewhere. On the webpage they have two photos of the cable - each showing different plugs on one end (different types of 90° elbow). One will fit my requirement - the other will not. How am I supposed to know which one is the correct photo i.e. which one I will receive if I order it? Ringing to explain and ask them is not an exercise I want to go through. Grrr.

neb: Anyone got any reccos for decent illuminated work magnifiers? There's a ton of suspiciously cheap ones on TM and similar, I'd like one with an anglepoise level of flexibility so I don't have the thing in the way of soldering, flicker-free illumination, a warmish light rather than cold blue-white, and mains-powered, not some USB gimmick.
Ended up getting one of these (the anglepoise-style ones, I've made the link nonspecific so it doesn't look like advertising), it's decent enough for the price, you definitely want to put some extra weight on the base if you lean it over too far but apart from that it does the job without paying a fortune for a Neatfi or Durston or similar.

If you’re not comfortable with it, then surely it’s not a good job - for you.

Although I don't know the specifics of your situation, the comment above does make it sound like a no-brainer.

Is it an option to have a conversation with said potential employer and let them know of the gap between the two positions, and that you'd like them to try and close the gap somewhat at least, and have them make clear what would be required from you, to finish the gap closing, that way you will know where you stand.
Probably not the best place to post, but still -

This is really worth going. Employers seem to like poaching staff from other employers. They will feel a bit more pressure to offer a better salary than if the applicant were currently unemployed.
