Rikkitic:Don't know if 'smile' is exactly the right word here, but I watch some American TV news, mainly MSNBC, and there are lots of commercials touting all kinds of medications for some pretty serious conditions. They all pretty much follow the same bizarre format: the debilitating condition is presented, then the 'miracle' treatment, then a long sequence of happy energetic people dancing around with idiotic expressions of delight on their faces while a narrator in the background lists all the many, many side effects of the medication being promoted, up to and including major organ failures and death in a variety of agonising ways, laid out in endless detail.
And, bizarrest of all, they make ads like this because it works... these unbelievable pieces of transparent fiction make money for the actors and producers because they make money for the drug companies because they persuade people to buy the drugs.
