I like chocolate chip biscuits (‘cookies’) but I have old person’s teeth and most are too hard for me to comfortably bite into or chew. Some from the New World bakery are perfect for me but more often than not they are also too hard. I can’t see any way to tell from the packaging which kind I am likely to get. Is there any secret to finding this out before opening the package?

The cookie, of course. Most are really hard but some (like the occasional New World ones) are much softer.

I can recommend Cookie Time cookies for their softness. Still some crunch, but chewier than the average cookie from a packet.

There's the Subway and Mrs Higgins in store both very soft types. Mrs Higgins also sells in supermarkets although they look different and I'm not a fan anyway so I've never tried the supermarket version.

These lux are very nice I recall them being very much on the soft side:

Some of the organic choc chips in Google search look soft although I've never tried.

Probably not much help, but the large CC cookies at Costco are some of the best I've ever eaten (including the ones I've baked for myself for 50-odd years).

You get about 30 for about 17 $ - but they last me a few weeks and are extremely yummy.

Soft, too.
