vexxxboy:

my sons phone just upgraded to android 12 and he is now upset because some of his most used apps no longer work, the main one being Mcdonalds.

McDonalds works for me on Android 12 Pixel 4XL not that I use it that much. What does annoy me is the deprecation of Android Auto for phone to Android Driving Mode which is rubbish.

WIth AA on 11 I could listen to and answer texts via voice as well as other messaging apps. With Driving Mode I can't do any of that.

Staying in Wellington. Check out my AirBnB in the Wellington CBD.  https://www.airbnb.co.nz/h/wellycbd  PM me and mention GZ to get a 15% discount and no AirBnB charges.

Trying to remain focused and engaged when working out my notice period in a job I have hated for some time...

Have you taken advantage of the fact that you're leaving to let assorted people know what you really think of them and the job?

I would not do that. New Zealand is a village in the IT world so you'll be burning bridges all over the place

it's an Oppo so it is probably their version that is the problem

Common sense is not as common as you think.

I didn't mean give 'em both barrels but more provide honest feedback on what you can see are problems. I've heard more than one person complain about problematic workplaces where everyone seems to know there's a problem but no-one says anything about it.

It's a double edged sword. The potential downside is usually much greater than the benefit to the OP.

It's usually better to gracefully slip off into the sunset and avoid future issues.

I'd save any *constructive* criticism for an exit interview if you are given one. Unconstructive criticism is more likely to hurt you than help you unless you feel you'd get a life-altering mental health boost. Even if you never work for that company again (and in a small or specialized career path this isn't unheard of), people move to different roles and companies.  Life can have unexpected surprises. You can't take words back once they are said.

In terms of motivation to do a good job until you leave, at the end of the day they are paying you to do your best and in the reverse, how would you want people to act? It's not long to go now, I'd reframe your situation so you can leave on the most positive terms, it's better for everyone involved.

YMMV.

A few well-worded comments may have been passed on to appropriate people.

When I say appropriate people, I mean the people that can make a difference, like HR etc. But that's all a part of the exit strategy anyway: gather the right info on why key employees are leaving and file them away.

Gutted and guttered.  Though, to be fair, I'd be pritty gutted if I was guttered after trawling for some trolls.

Bought vs Brought

and the worst one for me is when people say 'must of' when they mean 'must have'😡

Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.

Likely the same reasoning why in MIQ guests cant bring their own masks. Staff dont know when it was last changed, cant verify quality etc.

Yep it sucks but you just have to follow their rules.
