I guess it would depend on who is writing said article for said rag, they have 'journalists' from pretty much the entire spectrum, moderately far left, to center left to center right and further right.

None are what I'd call extreme left or right by global standards.

Personally in the last 5 years the Herald has felt more left than I've ever seen it before.

MadEngineer: Supplier sending previously opened thin clients. ...

I used to work for Jenny Craig, they hated thin clients full stop.

(I'll see myself out...)

One of the sets of carriages used on the Wairarapa line has very narrow aisles.

The train users refer to that train as "the JC" or "the Jenny Craig"!

I've never seen a properly right wing thought uttered in MSM here. It's generally beige centre wishy washy or vaguely left or (less common) vaguely right.

I'd agree that the Herald is centre right and would say Stuff is verging on having a Hammer and Sickle logo!

Looks like I'll be heading over to Stuff a bit more often then...

Those of you who want something to the right of NZME might want to give this a try:

I hope you like searching for news in a pond of inane drivel, and reading articles consisting of one or two informative sentences before being interrupted by a photo, video or link that may be vaguely related to what you're trying to read about.

Naah, for that you want Natural News, a "news" site by and for right-wing conspiracy theory nutcases.

OTOH if you want "news" from people who could actually be insane, try Before It's News. A headline straight off their front page:

Situation Update - The Storm Has Arrived! Quantum Computer Activated! Ukraine War & The Great Reset! Bioweapons Labs All Over World! China Demands Full Account! Khazarian Mafia To Kill 70% Of Population By Fall! Cyberattack Imminent!

That's one single headline, not multiple different ones.

The word 'Podcast'.

As far as I can tell there is no difference between a 'recording' and a 'podcast' so why does it need a different word?

(I reckon) it is because it is (broad)cast to your (i)Pod for you to listen to at your convenience. The fact that no one uses an iPod anymore and the media is downloaded not broadcast is of no consequence. Kind of like “hanging up the phone” guess.

At least hanging up the phone originates from something we did for quite a long time. In comparison we used iPods for about 2 minutes!

Also even then they were recordings, weren’t they? If you listed on your computer it doesn’t become a MacCast or whatever. Using the name of the device in this instance seems a bit strange to me anyway.

Netcast was the preferred term for some people, but popular usage overwhelmed it, like so many things with the English language.

On a related note, a "webinar" done over Zoom or some other non-WWW service.

Or for that matter, a pre-recorded "webinar" being distributed by email link still being called a webinar.
