Bought a product from Countdown, got it home, then realised it had expired three days ago.

Yeah, we have seen this a bit too, but we are mostly getting deliveries and I'd say on a $200 spend we end up complaining about 3-5 items each delivery. The other day we picked x brand of lasange sheets, and were given bowties as a replacement (we clicked allow substitution). In what world is that a suitable substitute. In the same delivery 18 eggs, 7 were cracked, and 2 expired items. I understand they are under pressure, and they are great about just refunding any item you complain about, but it's frustrating when you make a plan for food for the week and 3 meals are not doable because of these type of issues.
That all the rain in Auckland yesterday barely moved the needle on the dam levels and it barely covers last weeks water usage.

I have had similar issues with them, but have made allowances for the reason you mention. However, my last delivery didn't arrive at all and they rang an hour before it was due to say it was coming the next day! This is a major hassle and completely unacceptable, especially as I live out of town and receive my deliveries at a friend's place. I contacted them, was told I had to speak to a supervisor, he was on a 'break' and to ring back. When I threaded through the voicemail system a second time, ringing ten minutes later than advised, because I have experience with this kind of thing, he was still on a break and no-one else could still help me. I'm afraid I lost my rag at that point and dumped on the poor girl I was talking to. I have to say she was very professional and pleasant, did not lose patience, and assured me my new delivery would occur when I specified. That did in fact happen, but I still had to rearrange my schedule and make two 25-km trips into town, the second in driving rain. Even if this is not what most people do, they still have no business assuming they are dealing with stay-at-home spouses who spend the day drinking sherry in the kitchen with nothing better to do than wait through the four-hour delivery window. Communication is the issue here.

... surely it should be web design 101 for any field asking for these to strip off spaces before validating and parsing them.
It was the first thing I learnt when I was learning form handling. It's part of sanitising and validating data. I'm surprised there are sites around that don't do that, but I don't have an iPhone so probably wouldn't encounter this problem.

We see this quite often - we have learned to look at the items when it is likely to be an issue. Stock rotation practices leave something to be desired it seems.
Yeah, I usually look but this time I didn't pick up on it. Maybe I thought it was still February!

shk292:given that spaces are never significant or allowed in email addresses or URLs, surely it should be web design 101 for any field asking for these to strip off spaces before validating and parsing them. I'm surprised it's not part of any standard template to be honest, although given it only happens on a limited number of websites (looking at you, Westpac) maybe most sites do this.
I was referring more to apps in general but it applies to the web as well, if there's a space at the start or end of any field in a form it's with 99.99% certainty an error and not intended to be there. Our software automatically trims (bogus) leading and trailing spaces because of this, and we've never had any complaints about it.
Conversely, I don't know how many times I've had to dig the friends&neighbours support cluster out of holes caused by inadvertent and invisible spaces added to URLs, user names, or passwords.

Let me guess, Amazon? Although numerous other sites do this as well.
It wasn't Amazon, actually. I don't recall the name of it.
Geektastic: Photographer arrived to shoot the images for marketing our house.
Mid-shoot, two horses and a calf escape from a property down the road and wander through the gate onto our lawn….!!
Did they leave any souvenirs?

I'm more interested in what their modelling fees were, do they charge by the hour or day rates?

And yet I still come across sites that I can break my ability to login by signing up with an email address with an emoji in it...
