Stuff: "NZ coffee: are we being ripped off?".

Naturally, since the headline is a question, the answer is no. They go on to answer it with this gem:

"Asia was overall the most expensive region to buy a coffee. The least expensive part of the world was Asia, followed by Oceania."

A story about the Minister of Defence issuing an RMA noise exemption for RNZAF operations at Whenuapai is illustrated with this picture

Showing a Russian IL-76 freighter, which is nothing to do with the NZDF.
If it's even Whenuapai

This quote amused me.

"I'm just gobsmacked. I've been pulled over for what I do every day."

So the fact that you do it every day is the yardstick for legality?

I stole this of Facebook but it looks genuine.  Actual article has now been fixed.  I'm guessing the original may have come about from sort of speech-to-text app that doesn't understand maori placenames.

Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.

Even if it was done using dictation, you'd think that they'd have a list of disallowed words!

In any case, even the council itself can't agree on how to pronounce it; there's at least one official sign listing "Wakatani" phonetically.

Wonder if they'd use phonetics for a place like foo king in Austria.

"Another game ruined": “Customers hit social media to complain as streaming service gives the all-clear.”

https://i.stuff.co.nz/sport/rugby/rugby-world-cup/116710477/all-blacks-v-ireland-spark-sport-stream-suffers-some-freezing-and-buffering

Yet customers wade into the comments section and are overwhelmingly positive about their experience. Stuff balanced as usual.

Yep, nothing like an idiom to give away a  "journalists"  age...or lack of education
