Police officer's daughter accused of money laundering, drug dealing
Not the headline, but this in the article:
The woman appeared briefly in the Palmerston North District Court on Thursday, with Judge Jim Large granting her electornically monitored bail.
According to the RNZ we have a new Solicitor General, I'm not sure the incumbent nor the person named know of the change. Take a look at the caption on the photo and then Google who our Solicitor General really is.

floydbloke:
I stole this of Facebook but it looks genuine. Actual article has now been fixed. I'm guessing the original may have come about from sort of speech-to-text app that doesn't understand maori placenames.
Regarding the original article (about two councillors getting an equal number of votes), the losing candidate "said she was disappointed but accepted there was nothing she could do". That "nothing" was apparently to request a recount, where she has now come out one vote ahead. Go figure.
Not so much the headline as the credulity of the NZH to accept without thought and publish...
Following the SkyCity fire, staff at the casino were concerned about the health effects of the smoke and didn't want to return to work. SkyCity had the air tested, and based on the fact that it had normal amounts of oxygen, CO2, and [some other gas I can't remember] asserted that it was safe.
No mention of carcinogens or toxins or particulates... so long as there's enough oxygen and not to much CO2, it's fine. Brought to you by the Delhi (or Beijing or Djakarta or other 3rd-word smog-hole) school of journalism.

Of course they would. Can't have the business not being able to operate now could we, have to keep the Roulette wheels turning.

“Shocking Chase Secret Revealed” - NZ Herald 7 Nov 19
From the TV quiz series The Chase, the secret is......wait for it..... that the professional quizzers on the show revise information for 3-4 hours a day. Who would have thought? I guess “Shocking” means something different at NZH.

Well I knew the NZ media had an inflated sense of its own self importance, but this pretty much takes the cake.....
"Stuff has New Zealand's biggest online news audience and is also one of the biggest digital sites, comparable with YouTube, Google and Facebook."
The Herald runs a story about people lacking basic general knowledge (ironic) and ask a spelling question in which they give away the answer. Even worse, some people still get the answer wrong! Please tell me they deliberately chose the wrong answer just to be sassy.

Same survey on Stuff as a matter of interest.
From Stuff: Saddle Rd reopens following traffic delays caused by truck crash near Woodville
A truck and trailer crashed on the road between Woodville and Ashhurst about 4.40pm on Tuesday morning, five minutes outside of Woodville.

Of course it should read "A truck and trailer crashed on the road 5 minutes out of Woodville toward Ashhurst about 4.40am on Tuesday"
Of course the whole sentence should be taken out and shot... but at least it looks like I can speak English.
