Got a Synology DS720+ as incentive from my employer last Thursday. I'm not sure I'm gonna love or hate it after few days of operation. Throwed an additional 8GB module on it (yes, I know - they said 4GB). For the first I'll use it as a remote backup server.

They also tested seamen for COVID...I always thought it was a nose swab!

I finally managed to get a splinter of hardwood out of my finger.  Had a couple of failed attempts over the past week - was about to seek professional help - I couldn't see it - it was too deep. Decided to be brave and give it a final attempt, , dug in with needles and a scalpel, was almost at the point of giving up again, gave it a final painful squeeze, and it flew out of my finger like a submarine launched missile. Instant relief.  I used to enjoy getting prickles out of my feet when I was a kid, we spent half the year barefoot in those days.

Having had a near-death experience a couple of years ago from an infected cut on my finger when I was many hours away from civilisation, I'm uber cautious about infections.

The pain / irritation from this splinter was mainly due to the timber - purple heart - it's a bit toxic.  Not the first time it's got me.

I kind of read that as, "Had a chunk of toxic log stuck in me for a few days, but carved it out and now I'm golden"...

Made me giggle.

The current Pope.
I'm not in any way religious myself, but if he can make some Catholic zealots rethink their biased attitudes, then that makes him a good dude in my view.

Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.
