NZPOST! You need to be realistic and upfront about your delivery time frames.

So I ordered something on Monday from Auckland to Dunedin. It was classed as overnight.

Monday lots of emails about how we've picked up.

Tuesday tracking info said expect delivery.

Wednesday said delivery expected yesterday.

Delivered today (Thursday) with lots of notifications.

I'm quite ok with delays, but keep me in the loop. No tracking updates in between pickup and delivery.

If I did that there'd only be about 3 left 😀

Don't use YT an awful lot, but it does seem to default to subs on as well for some annoying reason.

Similar - overnight from Christchurch to Whakatane, so Tue to Wed. Arrived half an hour ago. Not that bothered as no huge rush. Annoys me more when Australia Post give a should arrive by date and its in 2 months time (while something from Amazon US sent on 31st July is (theoretically) out for delivery today.

Personally, I'm annoyed at the growing number of robot narrators on YT. I presume the creator is using text to speech of some kind. I just avoid their videos now.

It can be useful in some cases though. There is one particular YT channel I follow where English is not the content creator's primary language and he used to just play music and pop up a text overlay. Now he uses some sort of synthetic/robot speech, which in this cases works well.

They notify them on their website at the top and basically that's so they don't have to take investigations till the notified delays time comes up.

I don't get why they cant put them on the tracking page too when the delivery is too an area affected by the delays (which basically seems to be a very longwinded way of saying "everywhere")

I understand this but for me there are been so many robotic voice advertising about this small nz robotic company has developed a new drone being suppressed by big industry etc insert glasses, toothbrushes etc.

I just find I want to just turn off that channel once robot audio starts as gut reaction is it is a advertisement....

Then they wonder why everyone starts ignoring the temporary limits. The recent temporary limit between Ohinewai and Rangariri being a classic example. Over 7 km of 70kph where there was only ever work taking place over about 500 metres at a time and on times of many days there was no work at all taking place.

Imagine what you could do with that extra 2 minutes! 😂

My post was't about the time wasted as about having a temporary speed limit where there is no need. Drivers become desensitised to these limits and start ignoring them, as they were on that stretch of road. When there is a genuine need for a temporary limit they no longer slow down. It's a bit like the boy crying 'WOLF'. Rather than improving safety these unnecessary temporary limits reduce safety.

Yep. There's a stretch of road near me that's almost straight and has no houses or turnings on either side. It used to be 70 km/h and now it's 50. A lot of people ignore the new limit as there's no obvious reason for it.

Its like the stupid yellow corner speed signs around the place that are always way too low and no idea why they think that. Then you come across one where it matters because of a blind corner intersection thing and everyone ignores them because of all the corners that say 70 but are fine at 120 and only have 70 because a hiace with bald tyres in the wet might skid on it.

I agree to a point. It's my understanding those are advisory speeds, which if followed will provide a comfortable ride for the occupants. I can generaly add 20 kph to the numbers on thise signs.

However there seems to be a general lowering of the open road speed limits in places, I suspect just because of the Hiace with baldcheap and nasty tyres or the idiot not adjusting their speed to the conditions etc.The lowest common denominator strikes again!!!!!!! We seem to be living in an age where some change has to be made in reaction to an accident. So often that change appears to be an "easy/quick fix" knee jerk reaction so as to be seen to have done something rather look at any underlying causes.

If it's anything involving a list of things with a robot narrator, it's a content farm.

If it follows the clickbait formula "number + adjective + keyword + promise", e.g. "5 Simple hacks that will change your life", it's a content farm, often with faked content.

I use ZINIO for digital magazines. I take advantage of their discounted offers on a few tech magazines. I am careful to ensure the auto-renew toggle is turned off. However, I noticed this morning there was a ZINIO charge on my credit card and when I checked there was a full priced annual subscription for one of the magazines. Delving deeper, the auto-renew toggle for that particular magazine had ‘magically’ moved to ON. While I will get the service I have paid (full price) for, this is borderline dishonesty in my book.

I have removed my card from the payment method as I see this as the only way to not have a repeat occurrence.

We had flooding in the Street Saturday Night, signs put out.

All the water was gone by Sunday morning. Today is Friday - The signs are still out!

Yesterday morning I phoned the CCC of this and asked if we are expecting flooding again as the signs are still there since the weekend.

Was told "We don't pre-emptively put them out", and was told they shouldn't be there and they would be removed.

This morning I phoned again, and asked if we are expecting flooding again as the signs are still there even though I had called 24 hours ago.

The call taker asked:

What is your first name? I gave it.

What is your surname? I gave it.

What is your middle name? To which I said "It has never been given! I can give you my phone number".

Without your middle name I can't look for the job!

I said "Thank you for once again being totally unhelpful and said Goodbye!"

Sheesh - the CCC seem to deliberately make every interaction difficult! No wonder their "satisfaction survey" result are so low!
