Sure, as long as you're converting chickens into meat and not into anything else!

Well....... I guess if we can now get vegan leather what's to stop us having vegan chicken breast/drumsticks etc. 😎

Those Tegal chicken takeouts that are always low or out of stock. As far as I know, plenty of chickens are still being converted into meat so I can only assume that there are not enough Professional Chicken Converters available to do the work. Whether that's due to sickness or workers finding better paid work I'm damned if I know, but at the end of the day I want me some chicken.

It will get worse before it gets better. There is a critical shortage of food grade CO2 in NZ since the Marsden Point refinery closed down. Tegel themselves have publicly confirmed that CO2 constraints will lead to shortages on shelves.

And for that, expect shortages of your favourite carbonated soft drink.

CO2 supply is not expected to improve until mid September when production at the Kapuni site ramps back up after maintenance.

That is serious. I've recently bought a very large bottle of bourbon and now I know cola might be in short supply, I'll stock up.

Well the frozen 'not chicken' is actually pretty good. I'd eat it on the regular if it wasn't so damn expensive.

As for vegan leather...  I know there is actual proper leather alternatives made from mushrooms and the like. However 'vegan leather' is usual just vinyl/pleather with a fancy marketing name. It's plastic, its not good for the planet so piss off with the spin. If you want to market your fabric/material as made from recycled plastics sure, but 'vegan leather' for the most part is a feel good naming lie.

My back.

Just when I thought it was coming right, I managed to tweak it again while mountain biking (bad landing, I suspect) and now I feel like a 90-year-old again.

Very painful.

I had a similar experience from falling backwards (had walking poles to long and got tangled) climbing up a steep bank while doing a long tramp. Hip hurt like hell and could hardly walk afterwards. Also felt like a 90 year old. Best thing I ever did was go to a 'very good' physio who quickly worked out I had chronic lower back issues. Simple exercises and started to recover after a few weeks.

It must be the season for it. I did my back in again almost a month ago, and it still hasn't come right. Hoping I haven't blown another disc (previous surgery was a little over 7 years ago). Of course, the GP is hoping it'll just clear up so hasn't referred me up the chain. Must be time for physio.

There was a 4.5 hour delay between the "we're testing the fire alarms and you don't need to evacuate" email and the actual alarm. A number of very confused people were wandering around, trying to figure out whether it was real or not!

Yep, so rubbish and usually kind of pretentious. I'm working on making a wallet out of kombucha scoby. I'm not 100% sure if that's vegan. The B and Y die to make that leather, but I don't think anyone cares about them.

Well the Flooding Signs are STILL Up in our Street.

No water across the Roadway since early hours of 31st July!

Was even "hung up" on by the last call taker at the CCC when I asked if they were ever going to remove them!

No wonder Road Signs are ignored!

That reminds me... next time I go down the other end of town I need to see whether the New Road Layout signs (installed April 2017) are still there. They were last time I actively looked, a few months ago, but I'm not sure whether they're still there.
