Handsomedan: Didn't the B52's do the theme song to Rocko?

You know your stuff. I think it's the original now-dead singer Ricky Wilson, who died of AIDS.

frankv: ... Also interesting was the xenophobia of some of the Oregonians, and their unlimited determination to evict the cult.

Oregon is an odd state. It sits between (mostly) liberal Washington State, and California.

It's always been an odd mix of extremely hip and extremely backwoods. Eugene Oregon has been compared to Wellington.

When I think of Oregon I think of lesbians, lumberjacks, and lesbian lumberjacks.

That's so funny...and echoes my thoughts exactly.

Anyone else watching Norsemen on Netflix

I'm loving the angle of a bunch of Vikings having "modern problems"

I've just discovered and binged the first two seasons of an Aussie show called Rake.

Bit of a cross between Rumpole of the Bailey and Boston Legal.

I started to watch Black Mirror on netflix.

Episode one was about a guy who plays a VR game and well, that wasn't the insteresting part.

The part I liked was, it's kind of real, you appear to be in the game and can see, hear, feel etc.

How cool, stupid game they play (both) but imagine an RPG or adventure.

Episode 2 was about a guy who was looking at his social media while driving and his GF dies.

He blames the "addictiveness" of the platform and rants to the founder before offing himself.

How stupid.

I have never believed any social media or any other website is "addictive". People choose to use it, or not.

Even gambling, or alcohol, or nicotine.

It's popular to pick on cigarette manufacturers for instance. Now nicotine IS addictive. But how old do you have to be to not have known that when you started?
I smoke, I blame no-one but myself.

My decision, no-one held a gun to my head.

Likewise drugs, they go on in the news about drug dealers, but if no-one bought it, they'd be out of business in no time.

All of it originates from someone making a dumb decision in the first place.

Likewise looking at phones or social media.

You certainly didn't start at season 1. Black Mirrors all set in the supposed not too distant future and all based around what if tech evolved like this kind of scenario. In saying that season 1 episode 1 is probably one of if not the only episode not so much in a setting like that.

The show is interesting and intended for those who are interested in the possibility of tech advances and how they can enhance / disrupt our lives. Of course though it's still mostly a choice for each person as to how they let them effect you (as in your comments about social media you either use them or don't).

I liked Rake too... especially the politicians. Although I'd say the show is a cross between those two and, um, a story about some guy who's totally hedonistic and self-destructive.

martyyn: After Life. Netflix.

Up to S01E04 and I think it's some of the best television I've ever seen. Just brilliant.

Just came here to post about this, a must watch!

Another Life on Netflix.

Utterly awful.

A crew of millennial wazzocks who would never pass the psych evaluation for such a venture, messing up a deep space expedition by behaving like school children.

Netflix, you really messed this one up.

freitasm:

Wu Assassins (Netflix). A bit of fantasy, martial arts, SFO Chinatown, all together. Interesting story, a bit weak, but ok to watch on the bus to/from work. 6.5/10

I enjoyed that. Better than Iron Fist - although that's a low bar.

Forced myself to finish the season, agree with your comments, started off rubbish and ended up with a C-

Had I known what i know now i wouldn't have bothered. The general idea was good the execution was pants. I've watched a few space shows now,  and its clear they just recycling plot lines from Star trek.

To be fair Star Trek/Battle Star/Starwars have pretty much covered every space exploration scenario possible.

Sounds like they making a 2nd season though.

Agreed. The only ones I enjoyed that weren't the ones you mentioned were Babylon 5 and Expanse.
