Took the kids to Despicable Me 2 today.
A solid 7/10. Kids loved it. A few adult jokes, lots of family fun.

I reluctantly got Lincoln out on BR.
Some astounding performances, and an amazing insight into american politics.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

Trust the Force Luke !

I got shanghaied into seeing this and it continues the trend of mediocre movie making.

Zero surprises except for one action (no spoilers).

Thinly fleshed, charisma-free characters.

Zero chemistry between them.

Flimsy story.

Poor storytelling, scenes lurch from bang to boom with not much in between.

Like a Peter Jackson epic, it's too long and could do with a functional editor.

And it didn't even look very good.

From the Michael Bay school of action film making.

Couldn't have said it better myself. my sentiments exactly

Unstoppable (2010) - 8.5/10. Just reminds you of those stupid people who like to take shortcuts!

I've just started watching Season one of The Sopranos in the wake of James Gandolfini's untimely death. It's really strange to watch it again now with him gone. :(

Even stranger was seeing the funeral photos on Stuff the other day....with all the cast from Sopranos there it was almost like it was Tony's funeral that we never saw!

I'll say! It really was like a Sopranos family reunion or something. It was probably the first time they'd all got together like that again. Cry

"Jesus Camp".
I rage quit after about 45 minutes. Don't watch if you are intolerant of childhood indoctrination.

Just watched Man of Steel 3D and absolutely loved it. A well thought out origin story that was portrayed by an almost perfect cast. I'd even have to say I enjoyed it more than Christopher Nolan's Batman which in my opinion was only let down by Christian Bale's terrible put on voice. 9.5/10 Almost perfect. (For MoS)

Also for those wondering why people love The Avenger's so much I think a big thing was that nobody really thought it would be that good. I mean look at what they had to work with (character wise) and look at what they made. The best thing Joss Whedon did was embrace the unavoidable cheese, you see the disasters of comic book turned movies where they try and go all serious and it just doesn't work.

Just watched the Doco "Marley".

Found it a pretty interesting look at the man himself and Jamaica and the roots of modern reggae.

Pretty long at over 2 hours though but well worth a look if you are into music

Friends with Kids - Fairly cringeworthy almost the entire way through. Interesting idea. Saved by a slightly improved ending 4/10

I saw Despicable me 2 with the family

Not as great as the first one (Gru is no longer an anti hero) but still a good way to spend the evening

Watched Pearl Jam - Twenty.

It reminded me of why I love hard rock and grunge so much.

I miss the 90's.

I miss having hair.

Not only did it have a great soundtrack, but it was a great story - it filled a lot of gaps of my knowledge of the Seattle scene, why they went through so many drummers and just how entirely intertwined Pearl Jam and Soundgarden are.

Would I have changed anything? No.

Cameron Crowe at his best.

10.5/10
