When a Supplier you "regularly" use changes Courier Company without any mention on their site, from one where you knew (approx.) when it would arrive (CourierPost) to one that you don't really know (Aramex) without any warning etc!

Aramex must be far cheaper!!!

They are, and if you are not paying for the courier then it shows what they think of you as a customer to use them. Terrible courier company these days.

Picked up on the 6th, still not with me.

Technofreak:

I get the impression you'll argue black is white. The problem is very much someone having coffee which is stopping them getting the job done in time. Having a coffee and getting the job done are mutually exclusive in this case.

I fail to see how it wasn't presented as focussing on work performance. If it didn't affect work performance there's really nothing to be annoyed about. I rather suspect some on here, you included, jumped to a conclusion based on your work environment and didn't stop to think there might be situations where starting off with a coffee isn’t appropriate.

You sound like a terrible person to work for. If the job is predicated on people arriving at an exact time and there is only exactly enough time for preparations before commencement then you have failed at planning. There are so many things that could go wrong (an injury, toilet break, mechanical failure of some sort) that you're setting yourself up to fail with no buffer. I can think of situations where stopping for a tea or coffee isn't appropriate (like, for example, one of the above Bad Things happened) but if the entire job is like that, it sounds like a crap job working for an awful business.

Forgive me if I'm misunderstanding, but did you intend to supply the password alongside the password-protected file? I'm not sure whether a password is of much benefit if you're storing them together.

Ha ha. No.

I was meant to text the password to the client - which I forgot to do.

This discussion is spiralling out of control. Personally, I also can't see how a coffee on the job would destroy a company's profitability, but if an employer is paying someone for their time, and some of that time is being used for non-work things without prior agreement, then the employer has every right to complain about it. Without knowing a hell of a lot more detail about the specific situation, there is no basis for personal attacks like being a terrible person to work for or failing at planning.

That is not a personal attack, I don't know what you're on about. A person can be a terrible person to work for without being a terrible person, and at no point did I suggest that the poster in question is a terrible person. It's also objective fact that if you have created a process whereby it has absolutely no room for time slippage then you have failed at planning - no suggestion was made that the poster was the individual who created that process. I'm simply saying if that's their objective view on how a business should run, then they're a terrible person to work for. Because that sounds like a very hostile and unpleasant work environment.

That in mind, this is offtopic. So it will be my last comment on that particular chain of thought.

Geektastic: “Listen: Mike Hosking sobs on air as news of Queen’s death breaks”

Really? That level of gauche and graceless reporting is entirely unnecessary.

It’s merely par for the course for Hosking and NZME.

I don’t like Hoskings but what were the circumstances? If he found out about the Queen’s passing while on air or on his way to be on air then I don’t see an issue. There is nothing gauche or graceless about a man crying at a time of grief. I know that Hoskings is a Royalist.

Who sobs publicly over the death of a 96 year-old lady? It is not as if her life was tragically cut short.

Just a guess but I would say the number is in the millions.

Care to ask my family in the UK? You cannot tell someone how to mourn. How he or anyone else feels about this day has sod all to do with you.

I heard it live - he wasn’t ‘sobbing’ - he choked up and couldn’t/didn’t talk for 15-20 seconds - just went quiet and his wife kept talking during all this. Then he was back.

No different to when any other celebrity dies. Those that are fans are upset and those that are not think that its the most absurd thing to care about.

Lots of people will be upset. The point was more around making a spectacle of grief. It’s pretty icky.

As always, you and the other millions are entitled to your opinion. I am inclined to side with @geektastic on this one.
