Nil Einne:
kendo: Youshop says a box weighing 1.2kg will cost me $100 to send...the merchant I bought it from would have cost about half. Think Im done with youshop

Any sign they tried to repackage it? It seems something that's well exceeding their 2kg difference, and if the merchant could ship it for half the Youshop cost I would have thought it isn't something with extremely high volumetric that they can't get rid of. If there's no sign of repacking attempt, you could try asking via support why they didn't.

Yep I did, I dont think they bothered an attempt at repacking. I asked for pictures and will tell them what to do from there.

Has anyone used the new consolidation service? Did you get all your items that were consolidated into the one parcel? I just got my first consolidated parcel, and I was missing one consolidated item in my parcel, also, the consolidated postage on the parcel went from being $130.75 I paid, to being $97.49 written on the parcel I received. All 3 individual parcel names were on the consolidated parcel, but only 2 of the individual parcels were in the consolidated parcels. Has this happened to anyone? Did they throw my parcel out? What happened to my missing postage money? I am freaking out, the missing item was an expensive one of a kind items that I don't know if I can replace. I live chatted to a CSR, and she kept insisting that I received 4 parcels-- when it was 3 individual parcels consolidated into one.

Hope they find your parcel kiwiana.

I have a package on the way, leaving the warehouse on the 19th. Estimated delivery is fairly slow at 30th April, so 11 days. I don't use youshop if I'm in a hurry, and it may turn up sooner, but thought others may be interested in the delivery time frame - up to two weeks.

I hope they find my parcel too. I think I will stop using Youshop, they have committed so many blunders against me in the past year. It's time to look kelse where for my overseas reshipping needs.

Isn't YouShop just a rebranded postal service from Singapore post or something?  I thought I saw that name on some of the emails or something somewhere.

The warehouse in Orgeon was said to be run by Singapore Post http://www.stuff.co.nz/technology/digital-living/7719116/NZPost-to-boost-online-retail-service . But I'm not sure whether this was ever totally true. Definitely nowadays the info suggests the US one is owned by OIA Global Logistics. I guess Singapore Post contracted with OIA to set up the reshipping service. I would have thought that the staff still actually work for OIA rather than Singapore Post though.

But possibly NZ Post is still working with Singare Post rather than directly with OIA at least for the US warehouse. No idea about the other ones, I couldn't seem to find addressess for vPost in UK or China.

I can't recall whether vPost ever offered service to NZ but if they did they don't offer it to NZ anymore, the site redirects you to YouShop http://vpost.com/ . Also I believe the rates were worse if they did offer vPost to NZ.

And I'm not sure what the agreements with Singapore Post are like. NZ Post is obviously handling the local delivery entirely by themselves (which they would have done anyway but the agreement would likely be different), could be they also contract the air freight for delivery to NZ? Or is that done by Singapore Post? Or OIA?

In any case, I think the business relationship is a bit more complicated than to simply calling it a rebranded service.

E.g. from what I can tell, vPost has offered consolidation for the US warehouse for Singapore customers for longer than YouShop has existed. Although weirld vPost still doesn't over it Malaysia etc. And ShopMate which seems to be in the Australia Post localised version of vPost i.e. is similar to YouShop doesn't offer it either.

In a similar way, presuming the UK and China addresses do have the same sort of relationship with vPost, you can't get the Japan vPost address here in NZ. (ShopMate still only has US!)

I did a email search and had a package disposed of in March last year.  Here's an excerpt from the email they sent me:

Hi,

A YouShop customer has requested that their parcel be disposed

The parcel belongs to:

...

Reason why this parcel can't be delivered due to: the customer chose to return/dispose

Action

Please contact Singapore Post and action the above.

The customer has already paid for the action requested.

Regards
The YouShop team.

Are you saying they disposed of an item you had already paid for? I didn't get any such email.

No, they received the package for me, and I decided not to proceed with it, because the postage cost was so high.  The package was still in their warehouse, unprocessed.

What I am saying is that Singapore Post does (or did) the work for them, and if what Nils said above is correct, Singapore Post potentially subcontracts someone else in turn.  Which would explain the high prices.  And they still have enough margins to give 15% discount for Westpac customers or whatever.

Oh OK. The westpac discount is now down to 10% from 15% last year. Who knows if next year it'll be 5% and 0% the year after that.

I just got an email from NZ Post saying they'd noticed I hadn't used YouShop in a while and asking me to answer some questions as to why... I've used them about half a dozen times so far this year! Been at least 3 weeks since the last time though, maybe they're concerned? Got two orders about to land there as I type.

They told me I hadn't used them in a while either. I have a package that arrived in NZ using them today... so I'm actively using them right now. Maybe the list was made a couple of weeks back.

I think they stuffed up.

Also this from the terms for the draw:

2. The competition runs for the duration of the survey period, from x to x 2015.
