oh the irony. "it looks like you haven't used youshop in a while" the very day my enormously overpriced youshop parcel was delivered. I let them know via the survey that the cost was a bit high. The crazy part of the survey was the text fields that you HAD to fill in. They will get a giggle from them if anybody actually reads them.

I thought the crazy part of the survey was only allowing you to specify the equivalent frequency of one package a month at most for overseas purchases, when I've personally had about ten packages in transit at once, and I'm always waiting on something.

I too commented on price, in particular the use of volumetric pricing, which pretty much means I have no idea how much something is going to cost to get delivered. I also found it amusing that they asked about other places they should offer service, when it's really only the US that has stores that won't ship to us. Everywhere seems to, and is usually much cheaper than YouShop.

Told them to ship from Aussie at something approaching NZ domestic rates, and also told them they need to sharpen the price pencil.

It beggars belief that I can regularly buy goods form China, and have them shipped here, and the total including goods be less than the domestic shipping cost alone.

Not really. Post in Shenzhen is done by weight of the sack they are in. So small adapters that are just 10s of grams will come for close to nothing. They have none of this thickness BS that we have to post things nationally here.

I just spoke to Sephora and they have told me they do not ship to freight forwarding address.
you guys have advertised that we can use youshop for Sephora.

what do we do now???

Youshop advertised that we can use them to shop on sephora.
we never received any notification of this change.

when i called sephora they denied having partnerhsip with youshop and said they dont ship to ANY freight forwarding address

Saying you can buy from a company doesn't imply you have a partnership with them.

You're not going to get notified when a company decides to cease sending items to forward shipping companies, it's just the way it goes. Move on and try another forward shipper or buy from somewhere else.

well im trying to play around with the shipping address and how I enter it in hopefully it works

i know so many people shop on sephora and use youshop to bring to NZ

they will all be so disappointed if this doesnt work.

I noticed ship2u (http://ship2u.co.nz) didn't seem to be mentioned in that thread. I've never used them myself and they are located in California meaning many retail stores will charge sales tax but worth considering. Their rates (without considering consolidation or repackaging) are cheaper for 1kg or more than Youshop without discount codes and their volumetric is also slightly more generous. With consolidation they're probably cheaper too, but not sure about repackaging.

Perhaps most importantly, from what I understand they're only a small scale operation targeting NZ and perhaps South Korea. (Not sure about SK, their website targets NZ but may be there's some other one which does SK.) Although I'm not sure if anyone else uses the same freight company (appears to be Yale Nationwide Freight Transport now). Anyway may be more likely to be missed than the others.

I do agree with the general point though. If you can't convince Sephora to ship to Youshop, that's unfortunate but not something Youship can do anything about nor is it resonable to expect them to tell you. Using a popular US retailer who don't ship to NZ in their advertising is understable and doesn't imply any sort of partnership. The only real responsibility that YouShop has is they should make sure they remove Sephora from their advertising if you can't use Youshop to shop there any more.

From this twitter thread https://twitter.com/nzpostyoushop/status/506550683206942721 , it does sound like they were monitoring that sort of thing at the time, but it's not clear if Sephora was refusing to ship to Youshop, or it was a card problem. That seems fairly weird. ship2u.co.nz volumetric is a bit lower since they use 6000 instead of 5000, but it shouldn't be that much lower. If your volumetric weight was between >17 kg to 17.5 kg as I guess it was if you were charged $178, your volumetric weight should come out to be ~14.17kg to ~14.58kg or either $143.75 or $148.50. Resonable saving but not $100. If you didn't make a mistake, it sounds like YouShop overcharged you on the volumetric, time for a complaint? (If it's your actual weight that's >17-17.5kg then it's $172.25.)

Alternatively it could be the ship2u calculator is broken. But I tried 87.5*50*20 and 45*44*44 and it came out as expected as $148.50. Admitedly 44*44*44 came out as $139 instead of $143.75, but it's only one weight level less.

Edit: Didn't consider extra compensation, but it still shouldn't come out that different without something like YouShop refused to repackage but ship2u would, but their calculator wouldn't tell you that.

Can someone that has shipped stuff with ship2u confirm that it is legit/reliable? I am looking at shipping a pair of skis from the States and the quoted price for ship2u is at least 50% cheaper than every other freight forwarder- it almost seems to good to be true.
