networkn: If editing is a core part of your job, I'd imagine something like spelling "grammer" correctly might be something you'd catch :)

I hope you're joking. Are you?

To answer, I'll re-post one of the small things that really annoys me (re-quoted for the second time, so third time published!):

jonathan18:  People who don't pick up when mistakes in posts are made deliberately to make a point!

(Actually, it doesn't annoy me - it's more that I'm surprised the intended irony continues to be missed...)

He finished with :) so I wasn't sure if the tone to read was "hey I'm correcting you but in a nice way" or "I'm joking" - a ;) would be more appropriate if the later.

I am usually good at picking up jokes and sarcasm but that sentence was not clear to me.

I guess I just didn't follow the thread properly. I don't think it was that clear either, and usually irony isn't really handled well regardless in a medium such as a forum.

Aaroona: Speaking of crossings.... Courtesy crossings. Pedestrians just think they have right of way and that the car will stop, so they walk out then get p***ed off when a car almost hits them. The car does not have to stop and let you go. You must wait, unless they wave you on/stop for you.

However, once the pedestrian has stepped on to the road the vehicle must apply give way to pedestrians at all times rule and allow the right of way.

That's a pedestrian crossing you're thinking of; courtesy crossings are somewhat different in that they're relying on both parties to be, as the name indicates, courteous!

Personally, I think they're bollox as they simply introduce confusion - no-one seems to know who has right-of-way, and either party can get quite peeved when the other doesn't give way! I don't think roads are the place to test out such ambiguity.

The ones in my town have little signs saying "pedestrians give way to vehicles", but that still doesn't stop people from barging out onto the road (sometimes without looking).

The discussion on pedestrians could almost have it's own topic at this point?

Similar sort of thing with pronunciation; people see my surname and don't know how to pronounce it, but instead of asking they just butcher it.

The common thread here seems to be "People".
Maybe Google and Apple should not be wasting their time on automated cars, they should be trying to fix the underlying root cause by creating iPeople or People+.

I can't imagine how inflexible people would be if they were iPeople, though they would ALL be attractive.
