Handsomedan:

Trademe's response to my complaint about Aramex and the fact that I booked it through them and didn't have any other choice of courier.

Trademe: Thanks for letting us know about your concerns with Aramex. I know how frustrating it is when courier bookings don't go to plan so it's a shame to hear you've had issues with them. We will continue to have Aramex as an option when booking a courier via Trade Me - they are a national company, and we partnered with them and believe in the service they can provide. It's not often we have issues, but when we do, it can often be traced down to a local issue, and even a specific driver on that day. Thousands of bookings go through them a day, most without a hitch, but I’m truly sorry you haven’t had a good experience with them. Of course, you're welcome to use NZ Post instead or another courier directly. Sometimes you may only be given one courier as an option - this could be due to the buyer's address, or one of the couriers being fully booked or unavailable at the time of booking. If this happens, often trying again another time does the trick.

Shitty, weazly, shallow responses like these are almost more annoying than the crap customer service that we complain about.

It got worse - I challenged that response and they doubled down, effectively telling me I have choices and I should have taken that choice and gone to the Post Office. Then they left the chat.

I don't even bother to look at Trademe any more. It was wrecked a couple of owners ago. MightyApe is heading the same black hole

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Wow, so many Aramex horror stories. Here’s mine:

Two days ago I ordered three items from various locations around the country. Yesterday I received two “shipped” notifications from CourierPost and one from Aramex. This morning the two CourierPost parcels arrived together at around 9.30 AM. But the Aramex courier came at least TWO hours later! I have no idea how they stay in business!

I hope I'm not jinxing it, but Aramex seems to be competent in my area. PBT is the problem; 6 days to get a package from Tauranga to Whakatane. That's an improvement over the previous record of 33 days for the same trip.

Here in the UAE (their home market) Aramex is excellent. They bought a dog in Fastway.

It’s the usual. Nobody will pay for the decent service so nobody offers it.

My wife just had a fairly long and tedious dialogue with someone who thought $8 to send $45 worth of tee shirts from Canterbury to Auckland was too much.

I suggested a response that ended in off.

Those responses really annoy me. Trademe are trying to make out like they're the victim . I bet these are written by graduates of the communications degree, spot them a mile away.

Apple and maybe Amazon started these victim apologies.  Trademe aren't even original , just copying what others do, just like everything else about their business!

Another courier-related Grrrrrrrr.

I just ordered a laptop sleeve from a Scandinavian company. Shipping from Scandinavia by DHL Express cost €28.

I’ve paid more to send stuff to Auckland….

The pricing in NZ is way out - especially when compared to the service.

Today's grumble is work-related.

I've had a customer that I have struggled to provide good service to for a few weeks. Finally thought we'd got to a good place last week, when everything was done and dusted, order fulfilled etc.

Call/email today complaining that said work not completed and wanting to know what the heck is going on (automated email confirmations last week were pretty definitive - we'd done the work and the issue was sorted).

Turns out a breakdown in the process means we have had to start from scratch today (thankfully didn't have to get the customer involved - starting from scratch internally only).

Customer is rightly unhappy. I look incompetent.

At least I have a very understanding boss who has helped me through this.

Happy Friday everyone.

That it’s only weeks till Christmas and my kitchen flooding had obviously travelled further than first thought so more needs to be cut out to see and State insurance who we never claim anything for, call it slow damage so they aren’t liable. The place just looks a mess with everything out of cupboards. Outside there’s mud and dirt everywhere from the bank and of course it rained yesterday.

In consolation I remind myself this could be worse. Also thinking about changing insurance companies. I simply don’t have the energy to argue about it with them.
