One of the reporters is an artist, and the other has been caught up in a hoax before. Both are long-time "ufolgoists"

It talks about the UFO diving under water, and eye witness reports, but I couldn't find either.

Looks like bird shit on the lens.

Or could be a Star Wars Imperial Probe Droid

Learned a couple of new things about "Baby Shark" song

The "Baby Shark" song creator did not kill his wife in 1998, since no one knows who created the song.

And this inhuman torture technique this story from 2020.

The Oklahoman: "Baby Shark" kid's song used to bully jail inmates, DA says

Two former detention officers and their supervisor were charged Monday after an investigation found inmates at the Oklahoma County jail were forced to listen to the popular children's song, "Baby Shark," on a loop at loud volumes for extended periods of time.

SomeoneSomewhere: Not just using, uploading.

Voice control? P2P CDN? Maybe page 73 of the EULA allows them to livestream your underwear washes?

Nissan's privacy policy allows them to collect and share your sexual activity. I'm not even kidding, it's actually in there.

Times are getting crazier and crazier in real life. And. As the internet never forgets, I will no longer comment on domestic and foreign policy in any way. In these crazy times, what is legal and right today may be illegal tomorrow with retroactive effect. However, this in no way means that I am giving up my liberal democratic values! Old scout wisdom: be prepared!

Thugs on the street trumped that last time. Something more is needed.

Sadly this is not an invocation of Godwin's law. Anyone can view Tinkerisk's links to know it is serious.

Manufacturers want you to pay for subscriptions to control your items. Of course the corporations are will be mining you for your data also.

There is a free software alternate called "Home Assistant".

Developers who write plug-ins to "Home Assistant" will very likely to be a hobbyist, and will likely not be making money.

So corporation will threaten legal action if someone develops a free solution in hopes that it'll frighten the developer into pulling their code.

The Drive: Mazda Slaps Developer With Cease-and-Desist for DIY Smart Home Integration

Modern cars are indeed very smart, though no car is perfect. One enterprising developer decided to make his Mazda a little smarter through code and share his work with others like him online. Unfortunately, the automaker took issue with his improvements, and hit the project with a Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) claim, forcing it to be taken down.

A developer authored Mazda-specific integrations for Home Assistant. The API, allowed owners to create and share a number of seemingly inoffensive, convenience-minded functions, like checking and alerting fuel levels before a daily commute, or remotely unlocking and firing up the car when outside temperature drops below a certain threshold

Mazda caught wind, however, and served Home Assistant, GitHub (where the software was hosted), and Rothweiler cease and desist orders, citing a number of infringements. The automaker argued that Rothweiler's work contained code that violated its copyrights; used its "proprietary API information" to create more code; and that the integrations provided functionality identical to what currently exists in Mazda's own mobile apps.

Bleeping Computers: Haier hits Home Assistant plugin dev with takedown notice

Appliances giant Haier issued a takedown notice to a software developer for creating Home Assistant integration plugins for the company's home appliances and releasing them on GitHub.

Haier is a multinational home appliances and consumer electronics corporation selling a wide range of products under the brands General Electric Appliances, Hotpoint, Hoover, Fisher & Paykel, and Candy.

A developer maintains plugins for the Home Assistant integration for Haier's hOn smart control app, claimed to receive a legal threat demanding the immediate removal of his tools from the GitHub platform.

Home Assistant is an open-source home automation platform enabling users to control and automate their smart home devices from a centralized interface. Apart from convenience and cost, Home Assistant offers superior security and privacy options not available on similar commercial apps.

The plugins offered in the GitHub repositories enable users to control Haier, Candy, and Hoover air conditioners, purifiers, dishwashers, induction hobs, ovens, fridges, washing machines, and dryers through Home Assistant.

According to a notice published by the repository owner, Haier claims these plugins cause the firm significant financial damage and violate copyright laws, requiring the developer to take them down to avoid further legal action.

I was wondering how it was a copyright violation. The article seems to agree:

"It's unclear what legal basis Mazda has to order a DMCA takedown, as one GitHub user highlighted that they weren't able to locate any copyrighted code in Rothweiler's work."
