What's annoying me today?

Long weekend - was looking forward to a weekend of getting out and relaxing in the summer sun that finally came.

Aucklanders - I know you can empathise. This weather bomb is awful...and awful timing.

MikeB4:
Eva888: Notices at Petone Pac n Save. Butter and cheese had signs limiting to 4 which is usual when on special.

What surprised me was there were limits on milk which was normally priced. Has anyone else noticed milk limits?

I never shop at Pac n Save, I hate the place. I have not noticed any limits at Countdown. Occasionally there maybe limits at New World,

I had to go to pak n save during bad covid times as new world had absurd limits on things like only 2 frozen pizzas, only 2 chicken items etc so my stocking up on stuff shop was not possible. Really the Birkenhead new world should just be renamed to a 4 square since that basically is all that it is. I am often buying all 4 of the catfood I get on the shelf because that's all they have room for on the shelf.

I also hate pak n save, but have found that the Albany one is much better and ferral free compared to the Wairau valley one.

I am becoming increasingly annoyed at all the retirement community commercials currently depicting vigorous hyperactive elderly people bungy-jumping, sky diving, jogging, mountain biking, competing at sports, etc. etc. Yes, some fortunate older people do maintain their health and physical fitness well into advanced old age, but for many this is far from the norm and all the ads depicting older people as just older young people are deceptive, misleading and ultimately insulting. How is someone whose body has failed in multiple ways supposed to feel when viewing this kind of thing from the bed they can’t get out of?

Probably because retirement industry is only interested in selling retirement units and not looking after elderly people with health issues as too expensive.

It seems dementia units and hospital level rest homes are being shut down every few months.

Reduction in such units mean difficulty getting frail elderly patients out of hospitals so shortages of beds increase.

PS Nice to meet you yesterday, lovely section, spending today packing up the BBC Master and the monitor.

The same way that anyone else who sees people doing things they cant do on TV. I saw an ad for running shoes ones with someone who was running. Made me feel indifferent.

Speaking of shoes, the number of BS sites that list things in google shopping without correct sizing information.

All I want is a pair of High Top Midnight Clover 70 in US mens 10.

Product bought from NZ-based supplier, sent to NZ address... arrived with an American power plug. Fortunately it supports NZ voltage! (It's just a "jug cord" so it's easy enough to replace, but still...)

Was it shipped from NZ?

I got some festoon lights from mightyape that were kogan branded and are dodgey AF but still working out complaining to the right place about it. They seem to have ignored my report an unsafe product on the website.

My parents live in a village in the Sth Island.

All they do is natter to one another and get on the turps on Fridays.

Oh, and they go on outings. Certainly no energetic athletic pastimes for them!

I just think the breezy commercials are a little one-sided and gloss over the very real issues many older people have to contend with.

Not sure how that is relevant, Next it will be shouldn't advertise new cars since some people cant afford them.

I think the breezy commercials are more targeted at the families to make them feel better about themselves for sending Granny and GrandDad to a retirement village.
