The projector itself was only $1234 (nice memorable number) and it's good enough for what I do. Acer H6517ST.

All good. What really annoys me was when I bought my projector, I was told bulbs were $3-400 when I went to replace it, they wanted $1200. I blew my stack, and eventually got it down a bit, but next time I am getting that in writing because a 3 x price difference is outrageous.

Actually, a thought came to me

That's great news! If you keep it up and practice a bit you'll eventually find they come all by themselves, without any effort.

The headaches will go away as well.

That New Zealand never seems to have discovered the principle of overflow protection. Overseas you can easily source sinks and basins and bathtubs with this essential feature. In fact, that may be the only way you can get them. Here nobody seems to have thought of such a revolutionary idea, or can't be bothered. The result is if a tap is left on or a washer fails, the receptacle happily fills until it overflows and then keeps on filling until the house is flooded. Why is it seemingly impossible to find something here that is a standard feature everywhere else? Are we just dumb?

An interesting comment - all the sinks, tubs and bath in our house have overflow protection. Except the showers.

Also an interesting comment. I have never seen it in houses I have been in or at Mitre 10. I remember looking some years ago because I was so surprised by this. How old is your house? Maybe newer ones have it.

I just did a quick survey of my place. The bathroom handbasin has it but nothing else does. I'm not sure where that came from; it's not the original 1974 one that came with the house.

Our house has overflow protection on all sinks, basins and bath tubs. It was built in the 80s with a remodel early 2000s.

Maybe our plumbers finally discovered how it's done overseas. I haven't researched this or anything but I do recall being struck by it when I first noticed it. I cannot think of any good reason not to have overflow protection. I can only attribute it to lack of imagination. It does strike me as fairly essential.

Our kitchen sink has overflow protection, but no other water-bearing receptacle in the house does - must be a fairly modern thing as the kitchen is newer than the rest of the house.

Suspect it was a bit of a mixture. I grew up in a house renovated in the early 1960's, both bath and basin (stylishly pink) had overflow protection. Concrete laundry tubs had no such protection and neither did kitchen stainless steel sink and bench (a single unit).

Have you tested it though with taps on full? Our basin overflow is only about 20mm diameter and just keeps up with a low pressure mixer. If we had a mains pressure HWC and better mains pressure the overflow would'nt be enough.
