KiwiNZ:Geektastic:DarthKermit: I saw the new Hobbit movie last week. I had a similar reaction to some people above: Jackson changing the basic elements of the story wherever he liked.
I did think that Smaug was very well done (probably the best CGI creature creation to date), even if they once again ripped shreds out of how the story in the book played out.
I saw TDoS in 2D, as I always get eyestrain from 3D movies and don't intend to see any in that format again.
Totally agree. We now avoid 3D for the same reasons.
Saw it in the cinema in Martinborough which has only 30 or so seats, all big comfy business class type! They brought our garlic bread and drinks to us in the cinema...!
I do wish Jackson would leave well alone. A little artistic licence is one thing, but creating new characters etc is a step too far.
You would be hard pressed to find movies etc that have not created additional characters, quite often needed to make the successful transfer from written to moving stories
That may (sometimes) be true.
In this case, not so much. The story could easily have been told minus Tauriel and remained more accurate.
