Rikkitic:

His spelling and grammar are as shaky as the 'chinglish' he sneers at. I would take him more seriously if he took the trouble to at least use a spell checker. Most Chinese I have dealt with use English more correctly than he does.

He's a builder with 30+ years experience in the trade, he's not being paid for his grammar skills.

An 11 hour flight from Wellington to Invercargill last Sunday.  Got diverted to Christchurch and eventually put on a bus for 8 hours after two failed landing attempts; poor visibility.

Rather messed up day one and two of our holiday as we were meant to pickup a rental car to drive to Te Anau at about midday, but Avis closed at 20:30 and we didn't arrive until 21:40.  This then meant last minute motel cancellation in one place and last minute booking in another and missing out on one of our activities on the way to Milford Sound on Monday.

All's well that ends well though, we met some wonderful people and we're now enjoying our holiday down south.

Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.

Post Haste also failed to deliver today as well...

They really ought to change the name of their business. They are always - by far - the slowest courier I ever get sent things by.

I would really like to see the system introduced that is quite common when you buy from US based companies and they list 3 or 4 courier services and rates and let you choose which one you want to pay for. At the moment, the sender picks rather than the recipient.

My small fluffy dog has to sleep next to me. He’s like a small radiator emitting heat no matter the season.

Great in summer.

He also snores. Really loudly.

Last night he howled like a wolf in his sleep. Thankfully he slept though it all. So glad he had a great night’s sleep

I think we both know everyone would pick the cheapest and then still complain!

At least Fastway actually rebranded to recognise that they were not, in fact, the fast way at all (it was actually being bought by Aramex, but still. Now there's a courier everyone loves to despise with the fire of a thousand suns).

In Australia, there's even one comically called "CouriersPlease". I usually refer to it as "Couriers? Please."

Not to mention the people who say Location = Christchurch yet everything is shipped from China. I suspect that these people aren't even in NZ at all.

Gymjunnky has a good, but as usual NSFW, rundown of how this is done when it's more or less fraudulent rather than simply being economical with the truth about locations.

I suspect that in this case that the address verification for TradeMe has been done while on a trip to NZ, or by some cousin living in NZ. Thereafter you're only dealing with someone in China, so completely unprotected by the CGA and in fact any NZ law. And, practically speaking, dealing with an unidentifiable individual and unprotected by any law at all.

The fact that these Shysters are still in business: https://www.stuff.co.nz/business/131366406/commerce-commission-says-tv-shop-manipulated-customer-reviews-and-misled-shoppers

Brand Developers sell to the clueless and vulnerable and just don't care whether what they sell is good, the info given is factual, or the money paid for said products is fair.

I'll just leave this here -

https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2023/feb/28/carbon-emissions-global-suv-sport-utility-vehicles-oil-climate

Anything that quotes and appears to support the terrorist organisation "Tyre Extinguishers" immediately makes me stop reading.

It's also pretty disingenuous - we've spoken about this here before - not all SUV's guzzle gas. Not all SUV's are misused. Not all SUV's are petrol or diesel. I have Hybrid SUV. It uses less fuel than my wife's 1.5l hatchback. The eco-terrorists don't care - they let tyres down on all SUV's because they're too stupid to know which is which - they're just busy being busy ruining everyone else's lives.

That article lost me after two paragraphs and I am not intending to read any further.

That ACC have decided that it's cheaper to keep me on hold till I die of old age than help me recover from my injury!

For any time you need to call a government department, set up a software SIP phone on whatever machine you're using and then work (or alternatively post to GZ) as normal until the call goes through. This consumes next to zero of your time apart from paying attention to when the hold muzak stops.

My small dog used to do the same. 12 months on from his passing I miss his radiant heat, I miss his hypnotic snoring and even his fidgeting. But I do not miss his farting in bed!

My dog passed bit over a year ago also. They do say that dogs are very beneficial to your sleep - mostly! Waking up to a detailed cleaning session and yes the deadly silent gas killer...
