I see this everywhere now. Even in so-called 'quality' media. Sub-editors, proofreaders, and even editors have been discarded across the board as unnecessary expenses. Young 'journalists' lacking a real education and meaningful experience are now expected to report the news, and do the editorial tasks as well. This is the result.

There was an article in the Daily Telegraph - a paper that used to be known for accurate spelling and grammar - in which the HEADLINE used the word Intimated instead of Intimidated.

Amusingly the article was about the fact that the next batch of snowflakes, Gen Z, are "intimidated by the full stop". 🤯

Whatever happened to the word 'from' ?

A; it's shorter B: you avoid having to make a glottal stop after the 't' in 'out' so it's easier to say for us lazy talkers.

Next we'll all be using sidewalks. Sheesh.

And reporters (and companies) "reaching out" for information. It sounds like they're making a huge effort, in a kindly caring way, when in reality it's an email or phone call.

Debases the language, like advertisers are now "partners".

And if you're actually in the industry they're "across", you realise that they are not actually across it at all.

Which makes you wonder about their reporting on everything else they're "across".

I'm happy with "self isolate". It carries a bit of extra inference that "stay at home" doesn't, which is "stay away from other people".

BTW Instead of boycotting Stuff until they improve, let's donate so they can afford a spell checker.
