Well I watched the Lego movie and well pretty much chuckled my way through the whole thing I'll give it 7.5

Just saw X Men Days of Future Past and thoroughly enjoyed it. However, the Dolby 3D at Rotorua's Reading Cinema felt very distracting to me, it lowered the brightness significantly and even looking slightly off-centre at the screen caused weird colour/crosstalk issues, I even found myself taking the glasses off which were already a bit dirty/scratched and watching without them.

Aside from the 3D issues it was a great addition to the X Men series and my favorite recent super hero movie out of the new spider man, avengers, iron man, thor, etc.

Overall 8/10 for the flick and 2/10 for the 3D. In hindsight, I would have loved to watch it for the first time in 2D but I still may watch it again at the movies.

I didn't watch it, but having said that wife read the book immediately before watching the movie and said that, like most adaptations, it's a bit different than the original story...

I really hate those 3M lenses in the Dolby 3D glasses. The Real3D ones are so much better at reducing glare and way more comfortable to wear. Plus there's the added bonus of getting a new pair with every viewing (if you want) so you're not reusing the same dirty or scratched lenses over and over.

I watch more Rea3D than Dolby since I rarely go to the movies and when I do, it's usually a tentpole like The Hobbit or Captain America at the Embassy, more for the Dolby Atmos than 3D.

That being said I bring my own glasses every time (leave them in the car) and have a piece of bluetack on them so I can keep them fixed on my regular glasses :-)

I saw Lego movie with my Son who is 4, he found it a little scary, but I found it, largely fairly amusing. 7/10.

I also saw saving Mr Banks which I thought was excellent, fantastic writing and acting, though having not seen Mary Poppins I did struggle a little tying it together. Colin Farrell was very good, and Tom Hanks showed why he is considered one of the worlds best actors. I imagine there is plenty of scope for movies around Walt Disney and How Disneyland came to be.

Lego Movie - really enjoyed it and 4 year old loved it - have now watched it approximately 11 million times at home - 8/10

Machete Kills - the second one from robert rodriguez starring Danny Trejo. Absolutely bananas, great as a ridiculous spectacle. Casual gruesome violence but not too much. Laughed a lot - 7/10

I saw Edge of Tomorrow last night and I still can't decide how to rate it.

They needed to cut the last few minutes I felt... but it's an entirely enjoyable The Day of the Triffids-Groundhog Day-Matrix mashup. 7/10

I also saw Sneakers (1992) for the first time in over a decade... the last 5 minutes of that film is so appropriate to the current state of NSA operations in the US. 7/10

lego movie - good but not as good as lego batman - can't get that awesome song out of my head ! 7/10

300 rise of an empire - visual style, big sound, buckets of blood, stilted wooden dialogue (can't believe how badly miller translates to movies), wooden acting. future guilty pleasure ? 6.5/10

the grand budapest hotel - superb in every way ! this rates up there with fantatstic mr fox. 9/10

fantastic voyage - epic '60s sci-fi, beats 99% of the sci-fi drivel hitting the modern big screen. 8/10

Robocop - Very toned down compared to the original, almost a family action movie - effects etc were well done but story was very soppy - prefer the rough and tough original - 6.5/10

^ +1 Sneakers is one of my all time favourites. There are so many good scenes and memorable lines, it's had to pick just one. Casting was absolutely superb; a perfect blend of drama and humour: everything from Whistler's braille version of Playboy, to Bishop's comforting of Dr Reischkopf (the "give him "help", be a "beacon" speech). I'd happily re-watch it all the time (and frequently do). Along with SpyGame, they're my two favourite Redford films...

Edge of Tomorrow Really enjoyed this Groundhog Day/Matrix/Starship Troopers mashed up action flick. 7/10

For a complete change The Grand Budapest Hotel. Not normally my style but LOVED this movie. One reviewer described it as "beautifully ridiculous and ridiculously beautiful" which summed it up nicely. Great story telling, very interesting characters, and some shocks along the way. Quirky, thought provoking, and plenty of chuckles thrown in for good measure. 9.5/10

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation
