@Handsomedan: https://stuff.co.nz/national/132718415/resident-who-lives-between-two-gun-clubs-takes-aim-over-noise

A man’s parents buy property between two gun clubs and near active forestry land and then he develops a dwelling. He then complains non-stop about noise from all activities that surround him and the gun clubs look like they could end up shutting down as a result. What an annoying tw@t.

People who buy a house near the airport, which has been there for decades, then complain of the noise.

I appreciate that Air NZ had a significant backlog of disruption claims earlier in the year, but the fact that they say they are now turning these around in 8-12 weeks is a concern when I've been waiting 21 weeks for anything more than an initial acknowledgment let alone reimbursement.

Being asked by an APP if I would like to play hide and seek that I set the geolocation to "ask every time". I then set it to "never". Another question like that and the app is deleted.

How can the US have such as high incarceration rate and still let so many off the hook?

First arrest made in 'Bait Car' campaign, San Francisco, California, police department renewed effort to prevent vehicle break-ins

Also standard practice around airports... buy a house that's cheap because it's near an airport, and then realise why it was cheap, so complain about the noise.

Yup - substitute airport for any of the following and you get the same:

  • Stadium
  • Racetrack
  • Concert Venue
  • Public Park
  • Sports venue of any kind
  • Pub
  • Club
  • factory
  • etc

Counterpoint, the stadium was built long after the houses were. The concerts and late night games did not begin until many, many decades later.

I had hoped they would do that here when they got the sudden influx of writeoffs from the floods they had many donor cars at close to zero cost available for it.

It's a good idea.

Use tow truck to put write offs near tourist area / near airport.

Leave keys in disabled car, put luggage in back, leave, wait for first "customer".

Add glitter bomb if so inclined

Just like people who buy next to a speedway or stadium then complain when there's noise from an event - although not about the charging people $20 to park on their lawn/driveway.

That's what makes the job as a policeman so much fun. Honestly? I'd nail my badge to the mayor's office door as chief of police and be gone.

"The first-ever rugby test match at Eden Park was held in 1921, when the All Blacks played the Springboks. The excitement surrounding this event was enormous and it attracted a crowd of over 30,000 people. Yet despite the huge home crowd the All Blacks lost to the Springboks for the first time ever – 9 points to 5."

Crowds have been going to Eden Park for over 100 years. I think the current surrounding homeowners are well aware of the purpose of Eden Park and the crowds.

Pfft...all of those homeowners around Eden Park (much like their friends at Western Springs) have been there far longer than sport ever existed.

I suspect it wasn't an 8 p.m. kickoff until fairly recently.

Heck even in the 1990s games usually started in the mid-afternoon (from my rather fuzzy memory).
