It annoys me that our media keep presenting rugby as a news item. A thousand dead Israelis is news. A deadlocked US House pf representatives is news. Ram raids are news. Rugby is not news. It belongs in the sports section. It does not qualify as news.

The media's job is not to present news.  It's to generate maximum return for their shareholders/board/owners and they do this by publishing material that generates the most advertising revenue.

It is called One News. There is a separate segment for sports, which is where the sports news belongs. It does not belong in the main news. It is not headline news. It is not important at all, regardless of what some may think. This polluting of serious stuff with entertainment is something small that really annoys me.

You may have noticed that is this country rugby is more than a sport! 😂

I was, of course, being facetious, but do you not have the ability to record it?  This is really the only way we tolerate it in our household, fast-forward through any and all bits that don't interest us as well as the ads.  A very efficient use of time, usually start watching at about 6.30 or just after and will typically catch up to 'live' when Dan the weatherman comes on.

We have a skip bin on our driveway. Apparently it's a communal receptacle. Went back to our place in the weekend to pick some stuff up and noticed the skip on the driveway for the builders to dispose of their waste.

There's a lot more than just the builders' waste from our site in that bin! And the cheeky gits have dumped a couple of old doors on the driveway next to the bin because they wouldn't fit! They weren't ours and when I messaged the builder he said they weren't his either...

I find it easy enough just to mute the ads and other crap and read my email while they are on. It is the principle of the thing. Rugby is given way too much attention here. It has a place, like everything. The place is not everything.

I saw something from the States where someone had dumped all their household rubbish in someone's skip. The skip owner found an addressed letter in there, so returned all the "extra" stuff to the offender's front lawn!

We had this problem when renovating. Half the contents of the skip ended up not being ours. To top it off someone dumped a bathtub in. Our house didn't even have room for a bathtub! End of the day, nothing we could do really.

Tipping fees are so high these days this is happening all the time.

Need to set up a motion detection camera somewhere to catch the bastards.

You can get them with a lockable lid, but obviously you need to think of that before the fact.

Even if you could get some identifying details, the chance of any authority following up on a complaint of this nature would be about 1%, and the chance of any punishment being more than a wet bus ticket would be about 1% of 1%...

We do have some ring cameras around our house. Some of the new models have a Motion Warning - it just yells "You are now being recorded" when a person is detected.

Sports on news bulletins are appropriate. By definition "information or reports about recent events" Cambridge Dictionary.

I prefer Collins as my authority. It defines event as something unusual or important. Rugby is neither.
