No. Bought couple of Zyxel 16 port PoE switches. they are $330 each + GST here in NZ. I got them both for NZ$330 incl GST + $70 shipping via YouShop in NZ.

Chips are on their way to NZ as well. Should be here in 3 business days hopefully. Have 3 more parcels already on the way to YouShop as well (Surface tablet + touch cover) and microSDXC cards.

Oooh, link for the switches? Are they gig and rackable? I have several of the cheap tplink 4+4 ones but they are only 100 meg and its a mess.

YouShop seems to work fairly well - maybe a bit slow to consolidate and on-ship. Have had a couple of items come through in the last week and more on the way.

One issue I have: if you have more than one item in their system, you get tracking numbers from the original suppliers/shippers that stop once the item is delivered in Portland. When you have paid the NZ Post on-shipping cost, YouShop gives each item their own shipping/tracking number. Because there's no link between the original tracking number and the YouShop-issued number, it's very hard to tell which item is which.

Anyone else had this problem?

I can see that will be an issue if I get more things coming thru. I dont think I will be till they get repackaging and consolidation or orders happening, since even if I order lots of amazon things at once there is a good chance they will all arrive seperately.

I bought the 10/100Mbps version. Only 8 ports are PoE capable out of the 16 ports. I bought them for a CCTV install job. They are also unmanaged. You can buy the 10/100/100Mbps managed version but the price is almost 3 times but it's a 24 port model with 20 ports being PoE capable.

The best thing about the ZyXEL switches is that PSU is built into the unit and uses a standard desktop PC power cable. It is rack mountable. 1000Mbps PoE switches from ZyXEL only come in Managed series from what I have found out. Expensive though as linked above.

Er, can't you tell Amazon to hold all of your order until they can ship it in one go? I distinctly recall that being an option - and for free super saver shipping the only option.

You can tell them, but they usually wont do it. And for small things they loooove those oversized boxes full of empty space. For many small items getting them sent thru a work supplier doesnt work out since they get annoyed at all the customs paperwork for them, whereas NZ post seem to just want the value of the items.

According to http://www.nzpost.co.nz/products-services/postage-packaging/youshop/things-you-should-know/at-our-usa-warehouse they do occasionally repackage, but don't consolidate at this stage.

"From time to time we may repackage parcels at our USA warehouse. This may be due to insufficient packaging for international postage or where there is a significant amount of wasted space which may increase your postage costs. We will not remove items from the manufacturer’s own packaging."

I purchased a sony car amplifier (XM-GS400) from Amazon for US$218 including shipping, YouShop charged me $44.89 postage using the Kiwibank discount code (including $6 extra compensation cover as it's -just- over the NZ$250 limit). Total cost near enough to NZ$300, which is pretty good given a RRP of $479 locally.

Seems to be fairly well priced - I'm getting a head unit (Sony DSX-S310BTX) shipped from an Ebay seller who has charged me US$78.80 for USPS express mail international shipping. Had I thought about it sooner, I probably would have bought it on Amazon and halved my shipping costs... although still much cheaper than getting it locally (RRP of NZ$600 for equivalent model with slightly crippled feature set).

I had a sony headdeck ex usa from a friends imported car that was not able to be switched to the NZ band plan. Also they dont seem to have RDS in most models over there. Shame the UK is just as bad as NZ for overpriced carbaudio. worse in some cases.

Amps and stuff for sure from the US but the tuner is a big questionmark on most I have looked at when looking at headdecks.

The thought had occurred to me - the original unit I was looking at (JVC KD-A95BT) has switchable frequency tuning intervals (10kHz/200KHz US vs 9Khz/50KHz EU and 10KHz/50kHz S.America). Didn't think to check when I bought the Sony unit instead.

Oh well, guess I'll order the JVC unit and see if I can sell the Sony as-is on Trademe. It'd make for a great iPod/Pandora interface, but the radio thing would irk me.

Crisis averted - apparently you can get a band shifter to enable tuning of even frequencies (rather than the odd frequencies used in the US): http://www.edl.co.nz/shop.php?action=list&id=16

It's a bit of a kludge, but I think it'll do the trick. I'd actually ordered the JVC unit already - Amazon has a great order management system though (was able to cancel the order fairly promptly).

A good reminder for me to do my homework before buying things sight unseen!

Edit - so it turns out that some regions use odd frequencies, whilst others use even frequencies - even with the band shifter, I'll only be able to tune one or the other. So I think I'm going to go back to plan A and get the JVC unit - sigh...
