I dont watch many TV shows but when I do I binge as when they are good, they are good.
I just finished season 4 of High Maintenance on HBO via Neon. Its about the interactions of new yorkers with a jewish cannabis dealer and his relationships with them, but more so their relationships with each other. I usually hate Cannabis movies or shows, the US has the worst comedy and outside Cheech and Chong nothing else has been funny to me. Anyway, because the show is more about people and cultural diversity it has a really good mix and whilst its entertaining in a humerous way it is also very thought provocative about how we all treat each other and such things that have gone down the gurgler the last couple of decades. I also is almost so well written and directed that you feel you are one with the show or more so the relationships. 9/10
Just finished watching Peep Show for about 8th time, 9/10
Nearly finished Doc Martin again for 2nd go, I love Cornwall and miss being there a lot, it reminds me of a calm safe version of rural coastal NZ. 9/10
Lovecraft Country. Racism, sorcery, and a dollop of H. P. Lovecraft.
Only watched episode 2. Might go back and watch episode 1 then jump to 3. Decide whether to keep watching or not then.

Binge watched all 3 seasons of Fauda on Netflix in the last couple of weeks. Loved it!
I usually watch with subtitles (somewhat out of habit, but often because I am doing other things and sometimes it's easier to be able to read dialogue) and as the main dialogue has been dubbed from Hebrew to English, the subtitle words often don't match the audio.
We've been watching this - didn't realise that there was dubbed soundtrack. As I don't understand any Hebrew or Arabic and have adjusted to the subtitles, I'll keep watching it that way. I don't like subtitles when I've got fleeting understanding of the language, get too lazy to read the subtitles when I kid myself I can understand enough, then get lost and the subtitle has disappeared off screen.
So far the show is incredibly intense, brutal. I read a review the other day which mentioned criticism of a "pro Israeli" bias. I'm not really seeing that, both sides equally brutal, and influenced by personal circumstances and grudges, corrupt leaders, undisciplined "troops" going crazy. If it's been made as a "PR exercise for the Israeli cause" - then it seems to be an abject failure (so far). If it's not a somewhat authentic portrayal of a sh*t-show, I'd be surprised. If it turns into something that looks to me like propaganda - I'll turn it off. For now, it's riveting, very well made drama.
It does get a little "Rambo" in the last season, other than that it stays true to not being too one sided. Palestinians would probably rightly disagree. I watched with subtitles, tried dub after I had watched quite a few episodes, hated it, went back to subtitles

Yeah, I suggest reassessing it when you’ve finished all seasons, as I found it became much more mainstream and formulaic as time went on - the result being by S3 it had lost the more nuanced approach of S1. I don’t know if I’d bother if a new season is released.
Agree about subtitles vs dubbed - there are very few programmes I’d watch dubbed. And even more so in a programme like this where two languages are used frequently, so dubbing would strip away that key contrast.

I watched Ep.1 of The Boys last night on Amazon Prime Video.
Feels like it's going to be a bit of an anti-Marvel affair...but so far I thoroughly enjoyed the first episode with one exception...Karl Urban's terrible attempt at a Cockney accent. It might work for the American audience, but he sounds to me like a Kiwi doing a bad take-off of an English bloke at the pub.
Acting is good, plot twist was unexpected (I hadn't come across any spoilers so wasn't expecting what happened) and the series appears to be nicely set up from the get go.
8/10 for me

Yeah, this has been discussed previously here - including similar comments on Urban's accent! I think it (the accent) did get better further into the series...
As it happens season two starts tonight, and we've been hanging out for it; the trailer gives the impression it's even more full-on than season one. The frustrating thing is Amazon's dropping it week-by-week, so no binge-watching possible.

Did you watch on Netflix? It was English (dub) by default for me.
I have been (using web browser on windows HTPC). It defaulted to original soundtrack - not dubbed. How Netflix seems to work differently on different devices annoys me - maybe there's a setting somewhere I've not checked out.

Yeah, I think that's how it started for us, but I'm 99% sure after adjusting it the first time we didn't have to go back to change it to the original audio track.
Going back to S1E1 now I see it's still set to Hebrew audio/English subtitles so at least it does appear to remember across the series.
Hey guys we love the reviews but please indicate how you watched the show. Free To Air what channel on what nights or if via streaming what streaming service.
And yes IMDb links are helpful.
If rented via streaming what cost (regular, discount or bundled) would be nice as well.
Cheers
Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.
Watched Sextortion on TVNZ streaming. Quite funny actually.
