I am really annoyed by news media sites that say they will tell me 'what you need to know'. How do they know what I need? This incredibly arrogant, presumptive assertion not only implies they have special understanding of my needs, but are even prepared to decide on my behalf what they think I don't need to know. What a load of self-important shit!
Never heard of generalisation? Based on the majority of their readership, that is what they think most people want to see.
Some of it's total fluff though. "Pohutukawa in full bloom: what you need to know" was posted by RNZ last month.
They could also just say something like 'this is what we recommend' or 'suggested reading' or 'this might interest you'. Telling me it is what I 'need to know' says it is something I can't figure out for myself and that annoys me.

Even TV "news" does it. "Everything you need to know about xxx". Finally after three ad breaks a 30 second spiel explaining it all so you are now an instant expert. More often than not they simply state the bleeding obvious.
My favourite: "You'll be AMAZED". I have yet to be even once.

I rather believe that our public supply infrastructure is much more susceptible to disruptions of any kind and breakdowns due to the "crazy" speed of processing. A lack of redundancy and dependency cascades do the rest.
- NET: FTTH, OPNsense, 10G backbone, GWN APs, ipPBX
- SRV: 12 RU HA server cluster, 0.1 PB storage on premise
- IoT: thread, zigbee, tasmota, BidCoS, LoRa, WX suite, IR
- 3D: two 3D printers, 3D scanner, CNC router, laser cutter
Another thing that really annoys me is those stupid supermarket 'stick man' commercials. I don't watch a lot of NZ television but I do watch the news and it is always stuffed with those dumb ads. Every time I see one I feel my IQ drop. They annoy me on multiple levels. The 'I am so dumb so you feel smarter' approach annoys me. The lie that stick animation saves money annoys me. These commercials cost just as much to produce as anything else. Everything about this annoys me and I never ever shop at the supermarket being promoted. Not that there is much choice here.

Poorly aligned windscreen washer jets on cars. Copping a face full of soapy water at 60km/h on a motorbike/scooter is rather unpleasant.

Paul Ego used to be quite cool in his Bogman/Jeremy Corbett MoreFM days, but he is just obnoxious now.
The teeny weeny triangles for recycling.
Well not really a problem today, I am allowed to put triangles 1-7 in the bin.
Thats all the triangles, if I can see a triangle, in the recycle bin it goes.
But as of Feb 1, only triangles 1, 2, and 5.
For goodness sakes, the triangle itself can be really hard to see let alone the microscopic number inside it.
Delete cookies?! Are you insane?!
Where are you? 1 ,2 and 5 have been the norm in Wellington for years.

In Whakatane we used to be able to do 1-7, but maybe five years ago it changed to just 1 and 2.
Annoyingly they sometimes change the rules "by stealth", e.g. the website currently says no plastic bags even if they're labelled 1 or 2, but the Wayback Machine confirms that it didn't used to say that!
When my flash, new, UV Stabilised clothes pegs don't last as long as my really old, plain plastic clothes pegs.
kiwifidget:I believe this is happening here too but there's been absolutely no publicity about it that I'm aware of.Also the label on the bin says 1 to 7. Are they going to update the labels?
