Lizard1977: True - it's why I love sci-fi, because it challenges you to think. However this wasn't challenging sci-fi, it was lazy writing that didn't really put any energy into the more interesting aspects of the story. It felt like they came up with a "cool" idea (the exosuit), and then swirled a poverty sub-plot into the mix to give a reason for Matt Damon's character to take up arms. It just didn't really gel, though.
I can't argue with that but there are not many sci-fi films that make the grade on that level. So many are just shooters like Battle Los Angeles I have to celebrate a bit when a film like Elysium comes along with actual story elements and technology central to the plot + space travel ; ).
