Finding out LG are making a ~100" OLED screen, something I've been waiting for, for a while now, which wasn't confirmed at CES, and then finding out it's going to RRP for $25K USD, which means it will be about 60K here!

Wait two years, it'll be in the Warehouse for $799. However there'll also be a 120" screen just out that you'd like even better, downside is it'll be USD 30K.

Dear Brexiteers, now 4 years after leaving the EU, you don't have the much longed-for unicorn, but neither do you have the pony we offered you. Unfortunately not a Canadian pony either. Your economy has a flat tire that is slowly losing air.

The realization by 70% of you that Brexit was a complete cock-up has now come, albeit a little late. There doesn't seem to be much left of the promises made by politicians (no sarcasm intended). That's annoying for everyone involved.

More excel shenanigans

To quickly convert cells that show a percentage to a normal number I enter “100” into a spare cell, copy it, select the range that needs to be converted and multiply them by special, multiply

I do this all day everyday and it takes a fraction of a second for the muscle memory in my fingers to run that, aided by the little menu button on the keyboard which is equivalent to shift-f10.

This one document today however turns 50% to 5000%. The fix? Without doing anything else I copy the range to another blank spot, run the same copy special and it works. There’s no difference between column d and column q you dumbazz thing.

Thought I'd get some bedding from Briscoes during one of their exceptionally rare sales, plus free postage. Five items coming from 5 different locations, including one from Australia (which was sent first by the way). Oh well, maybe the postage is free for them as well...

I'd be annoyed at that, because if I knew they were flying stuff around the country like that, I'd be considering the carbon footprint of my order and likely wouldn't have proceeded, personally.

A good point, though being a (too) enthusiastic user of Amazon US (99% due to unavailable / totally overpriced local stuff), I cannot claim any high ground on the matter. Not suggesting you are, just an observation on my own iffy standards.

Yeah, I mean, we import almost everything, it's just something I have become more aware of, along with unnecessary (or necessary) packaging.

I'm sure that other than my biggest expense of power and rates, that aliexpress and amazon are fighting for third place.

A couple of years ago my wife bought a set of containers from Briscoes, they had different sizes so the smaller ones came inside the larger ones. When the set was delivered the outside (largest) container was broken (inappropriate or insufficient packaging for standard courier handling). She called up and asked for a replacement. We got another set delivered, same thing, largest container broken. Third attempt, the same thing happened, the largest container was broken. Fourth attempt, she didn't ask them to send another set, rather she went into store and got them to replace it in person. So we ended up with four sets of containers for the price of one, but three of the sets are missing the largest container. Hilarious.

Maybe this should be posted in the random questions thread, but it does annoy me.

Why do some people pull up and stop 2-3 metres before the line at red lights? Often not even far enough to trigger the induction loop so the lights don't know anyone is there. The oblivious person sits there with a queue of frustrated drivers building behind them.

Are they consciously creating a gap for cyclists et al, to be, if there isn't a designated marked place for them (as is increasingly common throughout Auckland?).

When they first turned up, I'll admit I wasn't aware you weren't allowed on them if a cyclist wasn't on them. Learned the hard way when a cyclist abused the ever loving stuffing at me.

Perhaps best for a politics thread? Brexit is not small either.

Ooh, and others in the queue that leave metres of space between themselves and the car in front, meaning less traffic can fit into the flow through the intersection. Space hoggers!

Do they have any legal standing at all? I suspect not.

Why would cyclists, who can be rather slow to pull away and usually slower than cars, get priority anyway? The roads are paid for out of fuel taxes and RUC charges, not lycra clad cycling warriors.

And before the cycling lobby dog piles on me about rules... cyclists don't obey them either and often treat red lights and pedestrian crossings as cycling go signs.
