The price of a hot chocolate. It's pretty much seen the end of me drinking out at cafe's except when it's really something I'm craving.
Probably better for my health too.

Apparently due to challenging weather conditions in Africa the price of the beans are at a crazy high price. Thankfully I don't eat chocolate and never have. Easter must have been a lot cheaper for my parents.
Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Climate change, the spread of new pests/diseases is going to have significant impacts on a variety of food stuffs.
Everyone will be waiting until the government hands out big wads of cash before the will do anything....

Ahh yes...I won't spent extra with you... but I will drive around until I find someone who does not charge $1 more for a $10 breakfast on a public holiday...so how much fuel did you use ?
$10 breakfast? If I could get a breakfast for only $11 on a public holiday I would be all over it. Last one I had at the cafe at mitre10 I was over $40 all in with the food, coffee, tiny pepsi in a glass bottle and a snack.
Todays annoy:
Went to do the 3 monthly run of the generator to check that it still works for when needed, and the fuel priming bulb disintegrated when I pushed on it.
As a result it seems that all the fuel in it has gone - didn't notice any smells because its in the small shed out the back of the shed.
Now I have to pull it apart and figure out what size the primer is and get some ordered.

I don't eat out for breakfast, but I do have coffee 7 times a week and a hot chocolate once a week.
The cost is (for me) irrelevant as it is something I enjoy, but I also spend $10 a day on CBD oil to keep my migraine at bay (after having it every day for 11 years), so I snatch every piece of "happy" I can get. Last night I was able to go to stock cars again to see my Grand Daughter race her junior mini stock. I could not have done this 8 months ago, the noise would have driven me to tears.
I go to places because I like the staff, the coffee, the food (we go to Cafe Cuba occasionally to have dessert + drink).
When I have the car during the week I drive and pick up the wife, go to a bakery and we have lunch at home, bring the dogs home a sausage (spoilt !)
If I'm annoyed by a service that is too expensive or expected to be bad, I simply do it myself. If I can't do it, I learn how to do it (if the effort is justified). Supply and demand determine the price. If there is no demand, supply is no longer an issue. I certainly don't pay for someone who thinks they have to offer a service and is simply there, whether on weekdays, public holidays or breakfast time. That is his business risk.

Be prepared for risotto to get more expensive, then. Over the last two years, drought in Italy has caused arborio rice numbers to drop.
Also, the Canadian Maple Syrup reserves are being depleted. Canada has a national maple syrup reserve. It's almost empty (thestar.com)

I use Jasmin rice for risotto but Maple Syrup, no that is too far, this is an international catastrophe.

It's OK, I believe there are alternative sources of rice in Asia that can fill the gap. I prefer basmati, but use whatever you like. I mean, it's just a fancy word for "hot wet rice" so there's no need to use arboreal rice.

Asia has issues too with falling yields.
