Well I was about to order something and also noticed that the free shipping to NZ had ceased; so taking the initiative from knidu (above) I contacted Customer Services to let them know how disappointed I was to find out that free shipping to NZ had ceased when I had previously considered Amazon to be a real alternative to buying locally (or from other web sites). The customer services people came back (quick as a flash) to confirm that yes NZ no longer was eligible for free shipping; however in a gesture of good will have extended the free shipping as a one off for my order.

So all I can suggest is that if you are ordering from Amazon do contact their customer services and let them know how disappointed you/we are; at worst they just have more knowledge around how many people are upset by the move and at best you might get free shipping :)

I do hope they bring it back as it opened up so many more options for buying bits and pieces (I have purchased everything from baby gear, to fire safes, to car parts and of course computer bits and pieces).

Amazon are amazing. I too had purchased during their NZ free shipping period. It went well so decided to open up another cart for my kids to add more books over the next few months and we would do another run. I went to purchase and was surprised to see shipping of close to $100US. Their Free international ad had changed to Mexico and Singapore only.

Accepting this, I merely asked if they knew whether they were going to open it up again as I was not in a rush. The response was quick but they misunderstood my request because I had already removed all the items from the cart and had added one US only item and was exploring costs to use Youshop. They offered me free shipping but I realised they were looking at my current cart, not the one I had at the time of my query. All the items (17) were 'save until later'. I explained this and advised them that the cart is now containing products I wanted and I would understand if they withdrew their offer given the confusion - it wasn't their fault.

They said they would honour it and would ship my complete Cart to NZ for free!!!

I did mention in my email that it was because of this thread on www.geekzone.co.nz that encouraged me to buy from them. Let's hope they bring that Free shipping to NZ, but for me.....Amazon are amazing!

I just went throught the order process making sure the item I'm selecting had been filtered through AmazonGlobal Eligible and that the item was Shipped from and sold by Amazon.com. Went all the way to checkout only to find out I having to pay for postage and packaging. ???

Arrh. I've just noted that the item exceeded 20 pounds (9.1 KG) in weight. Doh!

"AmazonGlobal" doesn't mean free shipping. It means the item can be shipped outside the USA, that's all.

Free shipping to New Zealand was a temporary promotion.

I stand corrected. I'm still getting charged for delivery on other items which weigh less the 20 pounds. It does not matter what I am choosing I just not getting the free delivery.

Why would you? As I said the free delivery promotion to New Zealand is finished.

You are quite right, I'm going mad..... I was was reading the Amazon website this evening and I swear the promotion had restarted again on the 28 July, Free Delivery to New Zealand. I went back over the details again I could not find it . foot-in-mouthAlso I haven't even had a drop of alcohol.  Forget what I been saying.
