TENKAN: Ok where to start on this one, well first of all don't use the YouShop service if you know you will be over the gst threshold, why? Well NZ Posts YouShop service has as of the 1/12/17 changed the way they work, as of that date they are no longer a Postal service for delivery of youshop parcels but are now a Freight forwarding company, what does this mean, well quite a bit actually, they have started up a company called Sendit which is NZ posts own custom brokers, so what happens now is you get an email from sendit (with the notice number of your goods) requesting an invoice for the goods they are holding for clearance
(invoice= Proof of purchase ) so what is happening now is they will no longer give the value amount to nz customs like they used to ( they already know the amount because you had to put this in on the YouShop website before they will even ship) untill you send them the "invoice " they are offering to do this for you at a cost of $46 or you can use any other custom brokers at considerable cost.
so this means you cannot get the Entry number to make payment to NZ customs for release of your parcels.
I've spent the last 15 days trying to get my parcels released and I can say the whole thing is a total fiasco!! It was so simple before the changes that it's obvious they no longer want to keep youshop open, I'll be using shipito in the future.

I have something over the threshold which is being sent, Am I correct in thinking that previously you just needed the item number if it was for personal use and didn't need fill in those forms for a client number? So now the only way to get over the GST threshold parcels is via a customs broker?

Hey just use nz posts own custom brokers, they call themselves sendit, just pay them the $46 they want to release your parcel as it's way to much to go through any other custom broker.
You'll still have to pay all the other fees at the same time, so for me for items with a value of $417nz cost $168 to have released which includes all the gst and biosecurity

Ahh ok, thanks for the reply... Currently waiting for my status to change from "International Departure" which it's been on the past 5 days? How long did the whole process take from purchase to delivery for you?

Looks like NZ Post are picking up the pace with YouShop? Or am I just lucky—this is the quickest I've had a YouShop parcel get delivered.

Paid for my parcel on Tuesday (30th Jan) and it arrived to my doorstep earlier today (3rd Feb). And I paid the economy rate.

Lucky! Looks like economy is the way to go, I paid standard though.

Mine is held for clearance but seems you had a super fast service.

JayADee:
TENKAN: So this just applies if you are over the gst threshold, if it's under youshop works as usual.

What's the threshold for shoes?

It's the same, you just have to factor in duty, which I think is 10% on shoes. So, the total of duty + GST must be below the threshold.

(To save you getting out your calculator, it's NZD$226.39).

Has anyone NOT had this customs issue happen to them and able to pay GST on youshop as previously without any hassle?

I just got my customs clearance invoice from YouShop customs broker.

The letter says I can pay via post/bank or Credit Card but I can't find anyway to pay by Credit Card.

Is there supposed to be a link or do a need to call them and give details over the phone?

So is this triggered after entering the amount on the youshop website after they receive the parcel? Or triggered automatically without having to enter any information into the youshop website?

Not sure of what you are actually trying to ask, but nz posts customs department (sendit ) contacts you by email after they receive the package here in nz, definitely not before it arrives.

Valcor yes just give them a call and give your credit card details which is lot quicker then online transfer. Best of luck!

Any youshop discount codes out there? Or are they a thing of the past with the "new" regime?
