We have a lady at work who will not let you out of the lift first; she is in as soon as the door opens. I've had words but with zero results.

And thanks for the reminder about people who exit stores to the footpath and do not look

When buying concert and show tickets, and the different sections on the venue map don't match the available ticket types.

Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.

One more then: when you are waiting for the lifts, sometimes with even more people behind you and someone walks straight to the top of the queue and rushes into the lift.

Or people who pushes the floor button and stands there blocking the panel, instead of moving to the other side of the lift so everyone can push the buttons.

There is a special place in hell for them. They are the same folk that won't move or move the smallest amount to allow a wheelchair into the lift.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

And on this... People who walk out of a retail store into the footpath without looking to each side or at least to the side closest to the door. You wouldn't do this when driving, so why do when walking? And yes, people who leave the lifts and stop just after a step to say "Oh, hello" to someone waiting to board, blocking everyone from getting in or out.

And then there are the people who wander along looking at their cell phone instead of where they are going.

An immediate family member (teenager) does this and believes it's OK as their generation has superior peripheral awareness, relative to older generations.

I thought this was a theory (hubris) worth testing, so one day I hung back as we were all walking somewhere and observed.

I concluded that if anything: -

- While looking at phone and walking the subject seemed to have worse peripheral awareness than other pedestrians.

- Collisions were avoided only due to the sterling evasive action taken by pedestrians who are looking where they are going.

- When asked how many people had to take evasive action, the subject confidently estimated none.  Actually it was >20 in a few blocks on a quiet day.laughing

To sum up: It's like when your Granny thinks she is a great driver, because she is blissfully ignorant of the chaos she leaves in her wake.

Perhaps she's claustrophobic, but doesn't want to discuss that with you?

When you see people doing that just brace yourself and walk into them. A few times and they might just think to be aware.

I've been tempted but I'm too heavy for that.  I'd knock people over and they could be seriously hurt.

I'm no pipsqueak and I'll walk straight through phone zombies without hesitation.

Why, what is there to be gained from needless violence?

I'm simply showing them the same consideration they're showing me.

"heatwaves"... and work.

Yesterday was 44.2 when I got home according to our rooftop weather station, was 30 degrees at 6am today and it was 45.7 5 minutes ago.

Official temp at the nearest airport is about 3 degrees lower.

I wish we didn't have to work over 37. I have to wear a full spray suit and it sucks.

andrew027: Just the usual things: people who put the toilet paper roll on the holder the wrong way, people who squeeze the toothpaste tube in the wrong place, people who walk on the wrong side of the footpath. Because, of course, I do all those things the right way.

Soooo pleased I'm not alone :) Is this just a geek/tech thing?

I assume the OP is attempting to leave the lift and the "lady" thinks she should enter prior to him exiting.
