Almost as bad as that gap in car between seat and console. Never thought dropping a phone down it would cause so much hassle to get back out. Hand unable to get far enough to grab which means getting out of the car to attempt from under the seat. Couldn’t do that in the garage as drivers door close to wall and won’t open enough. Had to drive outside and it was still a mission kneeling contorted on the ground trying to reach in and realising a torch would come in handy, but it’s on the phone. At least there was no chance of rats.

They need to design black mesh catchers for those gaps.

I'm sure Temu et al have cheper versions (though, that's not a bad price).

kingdragonfly:  Now he's parked both RV's in front of his very tiny house.

If he going to live the lifestyle of having large vehicle, mostly sitting idle, perhaps he should rent some space at a storage facility instead of using public use land, or rent a rural property.

This drives me nuts too. We had a large boat doing something similar that never moved. And another boat but without a trailer that was being done up. I thought, I'd love to rent a container and just plonk it on the verge outside their house beside the boat/caravan. See what would happen.

I thought there were vague rules about trailers being parked on streets, but is that city specific?

The only thing vague is the enforcement. The rule NZ wide is no trailer can be parked on road for more than 5 days without specific approval of the authority controlling the road. It was changed from 7 days to 5 last year.

Van driver who came to a complete stop on the road, then indicated his intention to turn right.

Idiot.

Mr. and Mrs. F..... at the next table along who are so loud and obnoxious they're practically Americans. The entire restaurant really doesn't care about your detailed opinions of your coworkers lady.

Edited to add: And on top of it all she was pretty... let's say uncouth.  I'm not overly fussed by swearing in appropriate situations (I grew up with Westie friends), but you don't need to punctuate your already obnoxiously annoying opinionising in a restaurant with four-letter words.

You can see why they tell you on an aircraft to call for assistance if you drop your phone down inside the seat workings...

Thinking how dense black foam plumbing pipe covers would do the trick. I tacked them on the garage wall where the car doors open and they work a treat there too.

True but keys are worse. They're smaller and get right down beside the seat rail and are almost impossible to see in the gloom down there. We have several pairs of long-handled surgical clamps/forceps (courtesy of former nurse, Mrs Code) which are very handy for retrieving them.

Skimming through the blurb for one of the seat gap fillers it said something about may not be suitable for Toyota Corollas. Assuming that Eva888's car has enough seat gap to take something I'd try a $2 shop draught stopper. Half for each seat.

Missed the post about pipe insulation, that could be covered in old tight or knee high material.

Yeah, you just need to cut a slot for the seat belt buckle.

The buckle seems to be the key to keep it in place

Trying to get things sorted with Apple support, and their horrible chatbot.

Noticed a small defect on new Magic Keyboard, initially thought I could live with it, but it's driving me mental. Not a major defect by any means, but really a $700 keyboard should arrive perfect.

After going in circles in the support chat, I finally got through to an agent. Very helpful, sent a picture of the problem and they agreed it needed to be sorted and to give them a minute to start the process. Several minutes later the chat pops up that no agents are available and to try again between 0800 and 2000 GMT, and then also listed the UK help site. I'm in New Zealand!  As much as I protested to the chatbot it insisted I couldn't talk to anyone again.

Frustrated now. Called Apple NZ support number, jumped through their hoops and ended up with dead air. Hung up and tried again, and as soon as I got someone the other line rung with an Australian number - might be the person I was dealing with who I got cut off from online. Switch over to that line and they said it was Apple - Wonderful! Switched back to the other Apple support person I just phoned and said "don't worry, it's being sorted". Switched back to the agent who phoned me to finish sorting it... not the same person, someone from tech support who had no idea about anything and couldn't help. What?!?

He finally transferred me to someone else, who I had to start from scratch with again. No ability to send a photo of damage, so trying to explain that while the device is functional, a $700 keyboard should arrive in perfect condition. Anyway, they agreed on replacement... but no option for a forward replacement so would be without keyboard until they confirm receipt of old one and then send out new one. AAARRRGGGHHHH!

In the end I just said I want refund instead of replacement, and have ordered a replacement which will hopefully arrive before I send the other one back. Which is fine for me as I can have an extra $700 on the credit card for a few days without it being a problem, but not everyone can.

I'm in the 14 day return window, but just thought I was doing the right thing by explaining the problem. Won't do that again.

I'm so damn wound up now!

Sorry it doesn’t help in your case but I have phoned the NZ 0800 number numerous times over a long period - including for defective gear that needed replacement. I have never had anything other than excellent service.

Sounds like par for the course. Some people swear that Apple can do no wrong, but you've run into the same sort of thing I have: if the problem is your fault and Apple can help fix it remotely, then that's all good. But if the problem is Apple's, then good luck getting past the stonewalling.

Sheesh. Is that how apple accumulated so much money? By nickle and diming their customers?
