First three episodes of Resident Alien

Alan Tudyk never fails to please.

A bit of a cross between Northern Exposure, Scrubs, Dexter and Home Alone

8/10 (although episode 3 was a bit slow)

Hah!  I just checked out the trailer on IMDB (where it scores an impressive 8.4!).  I know people who behave like that and they are not even extra-terrestrial. But then again, how would I know?

It looks good but I am not sure I can get my wife to watch something even a little bit 'out there'.

We seem to have run out of decent TV of late, so we are revisiting some older series.  Last night it was episode 1 of series 1 of Strike — that being Cormoran Strike from the JK Rowling books.  The books are excellent, and I am pleased to say that the TV series is just as good.

Are there people who would not watch or read anything from JKR because of her views?  Many many years ago I stopped reading the Battlefield Earth books by L Ron Hubbard because I was genuinely worried about being brainwashed into believing I'd have to give Tom Cruise all of my money, so he could tell a load of top secret bollox.  I think I had a lucky escape there!

TVNZs encoding does not look good for me on this one. Dark and low frame rate.

Is there any nerd button to check the stats on the player?

Have just started watching this tonight. Stacking up well so far!

"Kid Cosmic" on Netflix

Something for your 7+ aged kids, but won't drive adults crazy. Not hyper.

By Craig McCracken, creator of the Powerpuff girls.

Very original. Well fleshed out characters

I would add that you could throw in a bit of Robbins Williams' Mork from Ork.

I also rate this highly.

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

Mork from Ork but with a darker twist. I also forgot about Third Rock from the Sun (again with the darker overtones) and with the end of the third episode maybe some X Files too?

Watched Life (TV Mini Series 2020– ) (TVNZ on Demand) and it was interesting. How the separate lives of people living in a small apartment block influence each others' lives. Give it a 7/10.

Also watched Tokyo Vampire Hotel (TV Mini-Series 2017) (Amazon Prime US). That was... crazy. Japanese manga crazy. The story was a bit over the top (but that was a vampire series) and the main character didn't speak much (if at all). I'd like to have seen more of the Tokyo outside but the story was mainly... indoors after the second episode. I will give that a 6/10.

El Cid 2020   Amazon Video.  Quite a good series  but short at 5 episodes for season 1.  Season 2 is due later in 2021.  Wonder if Covid stopped production  half way thru..   7 out of 10
