My fridge's condenser is periodically leaking water, and the door sometimes needs extra force to open it. Is it a dodgy door seal?

Just checking - fridge or freezer? Our vertical freezer door needs extra force to re-open it after it’s just been open for say 15 secs then closed. All the cold air falls out and is replaced by air at ambient temperature, which then cools rapidly in the freezer, contracts and sucks the door tighter. That’s my theory anyway of why that happens - have no real evidence as to why door is sucky.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Is it a Samsung?

They have a known issue where the drain from the freezer compartment blocks up with ice and it then fills the bottom of the freezer with the overflow.  I pull the inside apart and squirt it with hot water from a spray bottle set on jet until it melts through.

Apparently there's a "fix" you can do by wrapping a bare wire round the heater element and passing it down through the hole which is enough to keep it from freezing up.  That will be my project next time I have to pull it all apart.

In your case, sounds like the door might be icing up and sticking which mine would do if I left it long enough.

No, it's a Daewoo. It's about 7 years old, and it's only been having this issue in the last few months. In the meantime, I'm using a plastic container to catch the leaks from the condenser, which is in the main fridge on the bottom two-thirds.

TVNZ 1 and their breakfast show's obvious bias towards one political leaning or another.

Media (more specifically, Govt-owned media) should be completely impartial and simply report the news and interview without taking sides.

Jenny-May Clarkson's obvious bias is so blatant, that you can almost see the hatred on her face when she interviews David Seymour, the obvious dislike when she interviews the Prime Minister and the apparent friendliness towards the Labour Leader and others from Green and TPM.

It's not just the facial expressions - it's the unwillingness to allow answers to be properly given, interruptions and obvious jabs, which she does not do to the politicians that she maybe doesn't have an issue with.

She's not a great journalist. She's not a very good host. I am surprised she's allowed to be so opinionated and biased on what is the only Free-To-Air news platform in NZ at that time of day.

I have no opinion one way or the other on the politics. But I do care about fairness and impartiality. I always found the TV3 breakfast crews were equally challenging and friendly to all political parties and guests. I honestly couldn't have told you which way any of them lean, politically.

Interview yesterday with the PM was a joke. She kept asking the same question different ways. It was cringe worthy.

I hate the news now and I've stopped watching it at 6pm. The one sided bias just annoys the crap out of me!

On the other extreme, I hear lots of people complain that TV1 wears kid gloves too much with the current Govt. That said, legacy media has been on a slow-burn ensh*ttification since Big Tech cannibalised its revenue stream & made it more vulnerable to billionaires buying it out.

Depending on the model there’s a glass defrost element that’s super fragile and if that gets broken, ice will block up the usual flow path of condensation which will likely be onto a drip tray that sits on the compressor, where it would then normally evaporate.

No defrost means that path is blocked and it will find another path to leak from.

Isn't breakfast TV specifically the sort of thing you can watch without having to worry about missing anything while crunching your cornflakes? Or would it be more correct to say that's it's actually improved by not being audible over crunching cornflakes.

Ah! That'll be why I don't enjoy it, I like mine soggy.

I think this is the issue - I am eating my toast too quietly.

Bigger plumbing firms that do shoddy work! Was at some peoples place I know well yesterday and was looking in hot water cupboard for unrelated reasons and happened to notice corrosion on hot water vertical pipes.

Could feel very small seepage at join. Well what does a jack of all trades do? Not me, gives the bolt a small tighten with wrench and you guessed it water squirting every where!

3 year old house. Turns out it had been faulty / very slow leak from day one. They used a swivel connector in the wrong situation. So the local plumber said it was always going to fail!

Lucky no damage to worry about but you get worried when there are screws left behind.

I use TiviMate for streaming. I set it to always use VLC for playback. Then I wanted to unset it. Naturally that didn't work. Apparently a simple toggle is too much for Android. Oh, it is there, all right. It just doesn't work. Why is Android always such a pain in the butt?

Anyway, after fluffing around for another half wasted day, I had a bright idea and force stopped VLC, which Android says may cause it to misbehave, though it doesn't say how. Anyway, this action caused the toggle to suddenly start working like it was supposed to so I restarted VLC and everything seems fine. No mention of this trick in any of the Reddits and other advice threads I could find so I mention it here just in case it is ever useful to someone.

A 20 minute drive, which probably cost $10 in fuel to go and buy a single $1 fuse.

My son getting an infringement notice in my name as his car is registered to me.

What is annoying is that it's for an unpaid toll, for which he has an account set up, but the auto top up didn't work.

You live and learn I guess.
